Under the direction of a Radiologist, the Ultrasound Technologist will perform a variety of ultrasound examinations (abdominal, pelvic, thyroid and superficial soft tissue mass) while observing patient safety practices. The successful candidate may also be trained and required to perform small test assessments (vision, audiometry and spirometry). You will also liaise with other clinic staff, physicians and administrators to ensure effective delivery of our services. This is a casual position and hours will vary depending on the clinic’s needs.
Our team and what we’ll accomplish together
- Receive and complete requisitions, enter patient data into the diagnostic imaging information system and prepare patients for specific procedures
- Gather and verify patient history and relevant information prior to beginning scan
- Perform ultrasound procedures in accordance with regulatory body guidelines and TELUS’s policies
- Ensure all necessary documentation is accurately completed for each scan
- Maintain current knowledge and understanding of PACS
- Maintain equipment and ensure a clean, organized and safe workspace
- Comply with patient safety and confidentiality policies
- Perform related clinical and administrative duties as necessary
- Perform small tests (vision, audiometry, and spirometry) as necessary and when time allows
Qualifications
What you'll do
- Completion of a recognized post-diploma sonography program, or equivalent
- Current Sonography Canada registration in good standing
- CPR and WHMIS certification(s) would be considered an asset
- Previous experience with PACS and GE ultrasound equipment is beneficial
- Effective decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a dynamic team
- Commitment to providing high quality patient care and customer service is essential
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and ability to work well under pressure
- Training in phlebotomy would be considered an asset
