TELUS is looking for an enthusiastic team player to join the Corporate Real Estate team to assist in the management of TELUS’ portfolio, which includes a $90M per annum leasing portfolio plus a large portfolio of owned properties and a burgeoning development arm. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial reporting aspects of the leased portfolio.

The Real Estate Analysis and Planning team is part of the Corporate Real Estate (CRE) group within CAF (Corporate Affairs & Finance) being responsible for management, planning and procurement of real estate accommodation for TELUS across Canada. This team is dedicated to employing best practices to create and execute accommodation strategies aimed at delivering on corporate objectives for both customers and shareholders. The team is responsible for the portfolio management of both administrative and network facilities both leased & owned locations.

As Financial Analyst III, you are motivated and challenged by helping the Corporate Real Estate team and our Finance Controller team understand the financial impact of the Corporate Real Estate leasing program in accordance with IFRS 16 requirements. 

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Coordinate the CRE lease team for the preparation of monthly financial reporting and budget planning process
  • Support the CRE lease administrative team for all financial interactions in REFX module of SAP
  • Responsible for complete month-end process & reporting on lease portfolio, in accordance to IFRS 16 requirements, with clear & concise commentary
  • Partner with Finance accounting policies team, other business unit real estate primes and key stakeholders to participate in IFRS 16 lease discussions & requirements
  • Oversee the CRE lease portfolio by maintaining & updating lease information via REFX module of SAP
  • Complete ad-hoc analysis as required to aid key stakeholders in making informed business decisions
  • Identify and implement process improvements

 

 

Qualifications

  • Strong problem-solving & analytical skills
  • Collaborative spirit and ability to work well in a cross-functional team environment
  • Result-driven mindset and ability to take initiative and ownership of issues and think outside the sandbox to offer solutions to complex issues
  • Forecasting and budget management, planning, tracking, invoice processing, chargebacks
  • In-depth knowledge of use of SAP
  • Understanding of accounting for leases with respect to IFRS 16 standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy
  • University Degree in a relevant field
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant analytical experience in finance/accounting position

 

Great to haves

  • Real Estate industry background and knowledge
  • Working knowledge of REFX module of SAP is an asset
  • Presentation skills

Salary Range:  $73,000-$109,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  12%
