The TELUS Data and Trust Office (DTO) is seeking an Incident Coordinator and Investigator to join our team. This role will involve day-to-day coordination and management of critical privacy, data and AI incidents across all of TELUS globally, and will assist the DTO team lead in conducting investigations.
TELUS is a trusted privacy leader globally and in this role, you will be working alongside some of the most passionate and innovative professionals in the business. This position will report to TELUS’ Incident Management Lead and Legal Counsel.
What you’ll do
Incident Co-ordination:
- Lead incident management response team calls in respect of both privacy/data and AI-related incidents and support notification strategy
- Focus on continuous process improvements and participate in post-incident reviews to identify and mitigate risks
- Contribute to mandatory breach reporting to regulators, identifying when notification is required and ensuring information is accurate and complete
- Participate in monthly/quarterly reporting in order to provide insights to key internal stakeholders
- Provide privacy guidance to incident response stakeholders to mitigate privacy risk and maintain customer trust
- Stay informed about emerging threats and vulnerabilities and ensure that incident response templates are up to date and effective
Incident Investigation:
- Set strategy for investigations of data incidents to ensure that all aspects of an incident that are relevant to impacted customers or team members are included and root causes
are identified so they can be remediated - Collaborate with internal stakeholders and other team supporting incidents to ensure the execution of the investigation strategies
- Provide guidance on e-discovery and for analytics on any impacted data allowing TELUS to comprehensively, efficiently and effectively respond and facilitate recovery
- Responsible for conducting post-incident reviews to ensure continuous learning and improvement
Qualifications
What you bring:
- 3-5 years of experience in privacy/data incident response
- Knowledge of Canadian privacy legislation
- Understanding of incident management, information systems and related security and internal control requirements
- Ability to bring an integrated perspective to continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving
- Ability to make independent decisions to quickly mitigate risk and protect the TELUS brand
- Comfortable working with a sense of urgency and adept at remaining calm under stressful circumstances
- Detail oriented, proactive, and have a proven track record of working independently in a fast-paced environment, while handling confidential information
- Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of the organization
- Flexible and willing to take on additional responsibilities as job requirements may change
- Mastery of the English language
Nice-to-have:
- High level of computer proficiency and some experience with data analysis
- Professional accreditation from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP)
- University degree in related discipline
Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its international scope.
