Key Purpose:
As an integral part of the Payroll team you will deliver excellent support and impeccable customer service to over 27,000 internal team members, 22,000 retirees and many more external customers across Canada. Alongside the larger HR Operations team and one of 11 payroll representatives, you will put your best foot forward by helping:
- Deliver excellence in customer service by processing payroll related transactions, proactively problem solve and innovate every day.
- Demonstrate engagement through active participation and positive contributions to Payroll team’s daily activities and transactions.
- Provide an on-going support to P&C Operations team as a whole through collaboration, asking questions to ensure clarity and knowledge sharing.
Main Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing
- Process payroll and related employee information according to established procedures and standards
- Proactively identify and investigate payroll discrepancies, make appropriate adjustments or refer to others
- Run variance reports on pay period basis to maintain current and accurate records
- Provide end-user feedback and assistance associated with system upgrades and/or new processes
- Identify and initiate payroll corrections and ensure that corrections have been made
Communication
- Act as a single point of contact in handling employee questions, concerns or issues
- Collaborate and provide feedback and support to immediate stakeholders (Benefits and AskHR teams)
Results or Outcomes:
- Timely and accurate processing of payroll and related information.
- Queries are responded to in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Previous payroll experience including working with government agencies, (i.e: CRA, Revenue Quebec, Service Canada), would be an asset.
- Working knowledge of payroll practices and procedures.
- Previous Time Administration experience using SAP considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Knowledge of automated payroll systems (SAP payroll) would be an asset.
- Knowledge of accounting principles & procedures.
- Customer service focused.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively compile information, analyze data & make sound judgements.
- Must possess Personal Computer navigational skills.
- Demonstrated professional oral and written communications skills.
- Must be fluent in English, bilingual in French would be an asset.
- Ability to effectively handle both favourable and unfavourable customer interactions.
- Self-motivated, work well with minimal or no direct supervision.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaboratively with other departments.
- Demonstrated ability to identify problems and situations, take appropriate action, implement solutions or escalate as required.
- Maintain a high level of performance under the pressure of time constraints and a fast-paced changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability in planning and organizing to meet scheduled deadlines under pressure.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources and/or PCP designation would be an asset.
- Commit to continuous learning. Demonstrate the ability to learn and apply learned skills to related situations and complete and pass all related exams.
Please note this is a temporary position.
The starting wage for this position is $21.44/hour.
The hours of operation in this department are as follows;
Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm.
