You’ll be joining a dynamic and highly skilled architecture team. We deliver working solutions to enable best-in-class business and systems capabilities, guided by our customers’ needs and strategic priorities.

As the Strategy Architect dedicated to a specific Line Of Business, you will build a trusted relationship with our Business partner. You are accountable to turn the business strategy into a strategic architecture view and drive Business and Development teams to rally around a shared technical vision, drive convergence, and optimize capital spend.
To close the gap between strategy and execution, you are also accountable for in-the-moment-review to ensure what’s implemented is aligned with the strategy.
You manage the strategy as a product. Your raison d'être is to raise the level of awareness and collaboration for stakeholders to successfully implement the strategy and achieve the business outcomes.
Relying on continuous feedback, you will foster agile and adaptive design and engineering practices.
- Collaborate with business partners
- Understand the business’ strategic themes, drivers, and priorities & build and maintain the architectural runway via Enabler Epics based on the business strategic themes and priorities
- Seen as a trusted advisor to the business and contribute to future business planning to drive simplification and convergence
- Present technical vision to business leaders to rally around a shared vision while explaining technical items in an appropriate manner for non-technical audiences
- Provide insights into our business and IT investments to ensure we’re on track for delivering on our commitments in future-proofing our business and systems capabilities
- Collaborate with Architecture and DevOps teams
- Communicate strategic business themes, drivers, and priorities
- Help Architects create and prioritize their backlog
- Work closely with the Solution and System Architects to ensure that individual program and product strategies align with business and technical objectives.
- Guide the creation of new programs/initiatives to deliver on business goals
- Adapt the architecture runway relying on a continuous feedback loop
- Review code and provide in-the-moment-review to ensure what’s implemented is aligned with the strategy
- Design and develop APIs and microservices. Develop and maintain solutions using Java and .Net technology
- Mature and scale the Architecture practice
- Guide, develop and inspire Architecture and DevOps team members
- Participate in Architecture Guilds and other architecture groups, to learn and share knowledge
- Contribute to TELUS’ “TechRadar”, provide insights and visibility to current and future technologies to enable architecture possibilities
What you bring
- Strong background and experience in Software Architecture, Software and System Design and Implementation using Agile practices in an enterprise space
- Experience in Agile Development and Agile Architecture practices
- Solid experience in delivering large-scale solutions and with driving convergence in those solutions
- Solid experience in software development
- Solid experience in API and microservices design & development
- You have used and understand CI/CD best practices with tools such as GitHub Actions, GCP Cloud Build, or Spinnaker
- You are proficient with Git, and GitHub, specifically
- You have experience with cloud-native technologies, such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
- You have used cloud platforms such as Google Cloud for application hosting
- Known for your collaborative approach and ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders including executive leaders
- Strong architectural skills modularizing components in large applications
- Regarded as an exceptional communicator (clear and concise), influencer and negotiator, including an ability to articulate complex technical details in a business context and drive alignment through compelling storytelling and presentation to executive audiences
- Strong self-management, initiative, and skill in leading without direct authority.
- Strategic thinking and business acumen with advanced analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
