What you'll do

As a Technical Writer for the Technical Center of Excellence, you’ll play a key role in creating and maintaining consistent and up-to-date technical documentation for developers across TELUS. Application of plain language comes easy to you. As a natural storyteller and communicator, you will help drive our technical standards forward through our reference architecture documentation.


In your role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that our reference documentation is clear, relevant, and jargon-free – and most importantly, kept up to date and well-categorized. 

You will work with product owners and stakeholders to help them refine and refresh their parts of our reference architecture.  You will help with the creation of a logical taxonomy and categorization system for the overall document.

Along with representing our content interests with other teams within TELUS, you’ll know what it takes to deliver a great research and learn experience. To help you execute, you’ll lean on our platform and product teams and other subject matter experts within TELUS CDO

  • Write, proofread and edit technical content for TELUS products, services and projects.
  • Strive for clarity over creativity.
  • Create content to help team members achieve a goal or complete a task.
  • Work with product owners and technical leads to develop accurate documentation.
  • Create content that is thoughtful, consistent and helps team members achieve their learning goals.
  • Uses data to help inform good content decisions for our customers.
  • Contribute to the overall practice culture by sharing learnings and knowledge with peers.
  • Advocate of the practice by building strong relationships with TELUS team members.

What you bring

 

  • Digital technical content writer with experience working with product and technology teams
  • Have a body of work that demonstrates a depth of skill of writing digital copy 
  • Be someone who can gracefully give and receive feedback
  • Familiarity with content strategy best practices, user experience and technical documentation writing
  • Passionate about modern content practices and methodologies
  • Well-versed in lean digital product development lifecycles
  • Adept at working in a highly-collaborative, lean, agile environment
  • Well-versed in the interplay between business, technical and user needs within the context of creating online content experiences 
  • Highly detail oriented and organized, with exceptional analytical skills
  • Able to communicate content strategy rationale and build consensus
  • Understand the importance of creating accessible content and how that applies to WCAG 2.0 AA principles.
