As a Communications Manager, you’ll develop, plan and lead internal and external communications programs for TELUS’ sustainability program, lead special projects and support our social purpose portfolio of programs including, Connecting for Good, major sponsorships, brand initiatives and team member advocacy and amplification of the positive impact we are making in the communities where we live, work and serve.

 

You have experience working proactively and reactively in Canada’s complex and ever-changing media environment with proven success in both strategy development and end-to-end tactical execution of integrated communications campaigns. Using a holistic approach to communications, you will leverage a variety of owned, earned and paid media channels to differentiate TELUS’ brand in the national market as a purpose-driven, world-leading communications technology company that enables owners to thrive in a digital world. You will also be an adept communications project manager with strong multi-tasking skills. 

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Develop, implement and evolve best-in-class communications strategies, tactics, key messages and metrics that support program priorities, enhance engagement and enable team member advocacy
  • Develop and manage proactive media strategies and thought leadership campaigns that increase national brand presence and awareness of our social purpose leadership by leveraging earned and paid media channels
  • Collaborate closely and on a day-to-day basis with key stakeholders including communications, marketing, program, creative and support teams to support the success of our sustainability and social purpose programs through authentic, inspiring, innovative and effective communications
  • Write clear and concise communications plans, engaging media releases and key messaging that effectively tell TELUS’ story to a diverse internal and external audience
  • Employ project management skills to help keep projects on track across cross-functional teams
  • Continually improve, measure and evaluate existing communications templates, channels and measurement tools for traditional and digital requirements

 

 

Qualifications

 

What you bring

 

  • You have a minimum of five years of communications experience 
  • You have an understanding of the evolving media landscape and experience working with internal and external stakeholders, managing earned, owned and paid media as well as issues management
  • You have excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills; you love working productively with external agencies and reporters just as much as you thrive on building strong working relationships with your teammates and leaders
  • You’re part strategist and part project manager who is as adept at conceptualizing plans as you are at end-to-end tactical execution
  • You have a way with words and are skilled in persuasive writing and editing
  • You are a strategic thinker, with a demonstrated excellence in communications disciplines and the proven ability to to maximize our impact by delivering measurable results in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • You’re a self-starter and take pride in being organized
  • You’re a sociable and collaborative team player who wants to be part of an innovative, passionate and diverse team that manages the reputation for one of Canada’s most admired brands - and has fun while doing it

 

Great-to-haves

 

  • You have previously worked at an agency and/or have experience operating in a large corporate environment
  • Experience in the telecommunications, consumer technology and/or business-to-business sectors
  • Experience working with social media and influencers
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent post-secondary education
  • Fluency in French is an asset

  • Anywhere in Canada 
  • This is a mobile role with the expectation that occasional office attendance may be required

 

 

Salary Range:  $67,000-$101,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  12%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
