As part of the cyber security operations team you will be applying security disciplines across new domains of big data, cloud, wireless & wireline networks, and massive converged edge networks for TELUS as the Anchor Client. 

 

As a Security Consultant on our world-class Cybersecurity Platforms Operations team, you'll play a crucial role in securing TELUS through the operation and maintenance of various security platforms. Working alongside an impressive and diverse team of cyber-security professionals, you'll provide hands-on support for a broad range of security technologies including firewalls, web security, email security, VPNs, anti-DDoS, and IAM solutions, and support the teams that depend on those systems.

 

 

What you'll do

 

 

  • Provide operational support and lifecycle management for security infrastructure and work within security programs, policies, and procedures
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and special events to support critical security services
  • Perform work and configuration changes during overnight maintenance windows
  • Support critical investigations and incident response
  • Provide a major contribution or a leading role in assigned portfolios while continuing to learn and contribute to other technology areas
  • Participate in risk assessments and conduct compliance checks
  • Collaborate with industry-leading vendors like Radware, Trend Micro, Netscout, Palo Alto, Juniper
  • Drive continuous improvement of our security posture with the help of automation and monitoring teams

What you bring

 

  • Post-secondary diploma/certification with 3-5 years of equivalent experience
  • Professional certifications: CCNA, CISSP or equivalent technical security certification
  • Intermediate proficiency in information security and networking technology
  • Proficient in command-line interfaces, scripting languages, and network administration
  • Experience with:
    • Network and Application Security
    • IPS and DDOS Platforms (Radware/Netscout)
    • Firewall platforms (Juniper, Palo Alto, CheckPoint)
    • Data Science, Monitoring & Logging Tools
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong technical documentation abilities
  • Experience with fast-paced operational environments
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain the Government of Canada security clearance
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities and natural curiosity for emerging security challenges
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within collaborative team environments
  • Risk-focused approach with emphasis on operational reliability and security best practices

 


Great-to-haves

 

  • Experience with multiple security vendor technologies
  • Vibe coding / scripting, lab experience, and demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning 
Salary Range:  $66,000-$100,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  10%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience.
