As the Director of Information Security, you will inspire and empower a national team of cyber security governance and risk professionals to create and lead a world class cyber governance, risk and compliance (GRC) function. You will have the opportunity to empower and engage this team with your passion for diversity, your commitment to fostering an inclusive culture and your strengths in creating and communicating strategy and vision.

 


Supported by the Vice President of TELUS Health & Chief Security Officer, you will bring your propensity for innovation to develop the GRC strategy with a deep focus on maintaining customer confidence in our data security and meeting all of our health sector regulatory requirements.  
You will partner closely with technology teams across both TELUS Health and wider TELUS teams, driving close business engagement and ensuring that cyber risk is effectively communicated across all levels of decision makers. 

 

 


What you’ll do

 

 

  • Foster an inclusive culture and inspire a diverse team with your excellence in communication, strategy and vision.  Listen to your team, motivate and engage them, and provide leadership, support and guidance on performance, development and career growth
  • Provide strategic vision and leadership for cyber GRC across the complete TELUS Health product set and infrastructure. 
  • Collaborate, partner with and influence expertly with senior leaders and stakeholders across business units to gain advocacy for multi-year roadmaps and investment strategies that that will serve to protect the business of TELUS and our customers
  • Enhance TELUS’ advanced security data analytics capabilities to protect TELUS Health and its managed services customers
  • Provide strategic leadership in meeting our regulatory cyber requirements.  
  • Manage a broad set of strategic vendor relationships to drive value for TELUS
  • Align investments to top strategic priorities and manages expenditures to meet financial plans
  • Secure participation and support cross-functionally at all levels, and fosters strong relationships across the organization
  • Blend data, insights and storytelling expertise to design and deliver presentations to executive leadership teams on key strategic opportunities and updates on key initiatives
     

What you bring

 

  • 8 to 10 years of cybersecurity expertise, with at least 4 years of people leadership experience
  • Purpose-driven leadership  with proven ability to inspire, motivate and support the development of team members to achieve excellence in the goals of the individual, our team and our customers.
  • A deep desire and commitment to fostering an inclusive culture where team members bring their whole self to work
  • An inclination to seek out diverse perspectives, ask the right questions, listen and remove barriers
  • Ability to prioritize, and work effectively and make quick decisions in an environment with shifting demands, rapid change, and competing priorities across regulatory requirements
  • A strategic mindset with strong technical, business and financial acumen; focused on the big picture and strategy while effectively managing diverse, dynamic, competing priorities in leading ongoing program accountabilities
  • Relentless focus and demonstrated expertise in improving the customer confidence through delivery of effective data security 
  • Demonstrated ability and passion for cyber security, customer delivery, cloud computing, automation and technology 
  • Expert knowledge of data security governance and cyber metrics
  • A collaborative partner approach with exceptional influencing, communication and presentation skills 
  • Aptitude for telling a compelling story in a clear and simple way to a diverse audience, including executive leaders
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in cyber governance, risk and compliance
  • Proficiency in assurance processes, your logical troubleshooting and your passion for inspiring innovation and continuous improvement in these areas

 

 

Great-to-haves

 

  • Broad knowledge of security standards, controls and technologies across multiple domains
  • Proven track record within the cyber GRC specialism in a regulated industry
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
