Customer & Field Excellence (CFE), within Business Customer Experience (BCX), leads the national operations that support TELUS business customers across Canada. The team encompasses SMB Delivery, Resource Planning, Field Dispatch, Partner Service Mgmt and Frontline Technician expertise to ensure services are installed, maintained, and restored with speed, care, and accountability. Together, this team protects and grows our business.

 

Our Strategy & Growth team is seeking a sharp, strategically minded Data Scientist to own and execute our end-to-end Target and Incentive Strategy for our ASPIRE Technician sales program.

 

This role sits at the intersection of business strategy, revenue operations, and data analytics. You will not just model numbers, you will architect the frameworks that motivate our teams, optimize product distribution, and directly influence our market acceleration through the ASPIRE SMB Value Gen program.

 

Impact You'll Make:

 

Reporting to the Director of Strategy, you will drive measurable business transformation. You will own the target-setting ecosystem from the interlock with Marketing to the Field team itself,, both internal and partner. You will negotiate competitive product rate cards, and maintain data integrity across our performance dashboards. Your insights and models will directly impact resource allocation, revenue generation, and operational efficiency across the SMB channel.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Target Strategy & Execution

 

  • Annual Target Architecture: Own the end-to-end annual Product RGU level target-setting process from the Director level down to the Technician, accounting for seasonality and strategic acceleration
  • Quarterly Product Negotiation: Lead quarterly negotiations with Marketing and Product teams to optimize target distributions
  • Channel Triage & Load Balancing: Conduct quarterly and ad-hoc target triaging within channels to effectively load balance between internal teams and external partners, responding dynamically to in-year market shifts
  • Operational Alignment: Align seasonality, product distribution, and workforce mix across all management tiers (Director, Manager, and Tech level)
  • Weekly Performance Forecasting: Drive weekly forecasting and triaging of month-end performance, funnel health, run rates, and target achievements

Incentive & Rate Card Management

  • Rate Card Negotiation: Manage quarterly negotiations of product rate cards with Marketing, adjusting compensation structures based on market conditions, performance trends, and new product introductions
  • Portfolio Assessments: Perform ongoing evaluations to determine the optimal timing for integrating renewals, connected devices, and Wireline add-ons into the incentive ecosystem

 

Modeling, Governance & Interlock

 

  • Data Modeling & Dashboards: Own all target and incentive modeling, data management, reporting, that feed our performance dashboards
  • RGU Reconciliation: Lead the reconciliation and remediation of sales conflicts or RGU misalignments across competing channels, managing end-to-end conflict resolution and negotiations
  • Cross-Functional Interlock: Serve as the primary operational link with Payroll for incentive processing and collaborate with Channel Strategy to manage the commission clawback process
  • Executive Communications: Author and distribute the Monthly ASPIRE ELT level Newsletter and deliver validated weekly SMB Channel Performance updates (via CPLITE) to key stakeholders and leadership

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Science, Analytics, Economics, or a related field
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in business systems analysis, revenue operations, or performance consulting within an enterprise environment
  • Technical Analytics: Proficiency in SQL and programming languages like Python or R, alongside advanced data modeling capabilities
  • Visualization & Reporting: Advanced expertise in reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Excel, and Google Sheets
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong background in performance KPIs, commission/incentive structures, and complex financial/operational variables
  • Communication: Exceptional storytelling and negotiation skills with the ability to translate technical data models into compelling executive narratives and visual presentations

Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its national scope.

Salary Range:  $86,000-$136,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  15%
