As Director, you’ll lead the strategy, planning and execution focusing on government relations in Alberta. You’ll engage with and manage relationships with a panoply of stakeholders including executive leaders, government, trade associations, civil society and academics.  Your energy, drive and resilience will get the job done and create a better future for Alberta and Canada.

 

What you’ll do 

 

  • Develop and execute Alberta government relations strategy including:
  • Undertaking a wide variety of creative tactics to deliver on TELUS’ priorities
  • Developing and maintaining productive relationships with political leaders, academics, civil society groups, trade associations, public servants and other stakeholders
  • Supporting TELUS public sector sales team and federal government relations
  • Supporting Indigenous reconciliation efforts
  • Leading the creation of reports, submissions, messages and collateral materials
  • Leading and training TELUS team members to support advocacy efforts
  • Reporting on progress to executives
  • Guide and support executives in developing their relationships with key government officials
  • Partner with public sector entities at all levels of government to advance Alberta’s innovation economy and connectivity, support public sector sales, and strengthen federally-focused advocacy with Alberta stakeholders
  • Oversee TELUS’ Alberta lobbyist registration and ensure full compliance with all rules and regulations guiding engagement with the Alberta government

 

Qualifications

  • Experienced government relations professional with a strong business development mindset
  • Recognized expert in the Government of Alberta, Alberta public sector, Alberta politics, and Indigenous Affairs & Reconciliation in Alberta
  • A data-driven approach to public policy advocacy and campaigning
  • A talent for bringing people together and harnessing the collective energy to get things done
  • Exceptional common sense and judgement combined with an intrinsic ability to steadfastly navigate the ambiguous and uncharted
  • Extraordinary ability to craft clear and simple communications, and bring forward insights and recommendations to all levels of stakeholders

 

Great-to-haves

 

  • Experience in the telecommunications sector
