As Manager, Cybersecurity Engineering within the CSO Security Platforms organization, you will be the architect of TELUS's cybersecurity future, defining strategic direction and executing forward-thinking strategies that anticipate tomorrow's security landscape. Your leadership will inspire excellence across our national team while pioneering the integration of cutting-edge Cloud and AI technologies into our defense infrastructure.
Most significantly, as a trusted advisor, your strategic insights will directly influence executive decision-making. You'll become a strategic storyteller whose expertise guides TELUS's security investments and priorities, ensuring your voice carries substantial weight in shaping our digital transformation at the highest organizational levels.
What You'll Do
- Lead & Inspire: Lead and empower a national team of cybersecurity professionals through your unique vision and strategy, fostering a culture of high performance and strong engagement.
- Define Strategy & Vision: Proactively define the internal cybersecurity strategy, roadmap, and vision for TELUS, and create strategic programs to execute on that mandate.
- Manage Critical Platforms: Leverage your expertise to manage the strategic cybersecurity platforms, applications, and systems that are critical to protecting TELUS.
- Collaborate & Deliver: Work with architecture and operations teams to deliver the cybersecurity roadmap and manage the lifecycle of our platforms, partnering with stakeholders to ensure resiliency and reliability.
- Oversee Projects & Finances: Provide project coordination and management, prioritize resources for competing projects, and manage the team's capital and operating expenses budget.
- Manage Vendor Relationships: Partner with vendors on maintenance and support requirements, develop vendor scorecards, and provide regular feedback on their performance.
What you bring
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in domains such as IAM, network security, cloud security, and Zero Trust architecture
- Hands-on expertise with cybersecurity technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, SSE, PAM, Anti-DDoS, Email security, Web security, and endpoint protection
- Proven experience in DevSecOps, including securing CI/CD pipelines and knowledge of application security tools (SAST, DAST, SCA) and container security
- Familiarity with leveraging AI/ML in cybersecurity platforms (e.g., UEBA) and an understanding of securing AI/ML workloads
- A passion for leading a diverse technical team to solve complex cybersecurity challenges
- Acknowledged strength in project or program management, financial management, and business case development
- A known ability to communicate complex technical topics and data insights to diverse audiences, including executives
- Skill in developing execution plans that align with strategy and a defined roadmap
- A result-driven mindset with the ability to take initiative and ownership of complex issues through to resolution
Great-to-Haves
- Cloud experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Azure, or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- An understanding of information technology (IT) and data center environments
- Professional security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or SANS certifications
