As a Cyber Security expert, you’ll lead a team protecting information assets and infrastructure is an essential priority for consumers, businesses, and Canada.  At TELUS Health Security, we strive to tackle the toughest security challenges head-on with top talent and cutting-edge technology. 


As a senior member of our Security Engineering team in the TELUS Health Security team, you will lead efforts to identify and resolve key security threats to our business.  You will work closely with technology partners both in TELUS Health and across wider TELUS teams to evolve security controls and standards which will drive effective cyber security within TELUS Health.


The work of the Security Engineering team directly drives improved security and privacy outcomes for TELUS Health customers and the communities TELUS serves. Your activities will backstop TELUS Health cloud technology, DevOps and technology innovation teams and empower them to deliver cutting edge health services in an agile fashion.  Succeeding means improving customer confidence in the security of TELUS Health technology products.
 

What you'll do

 

  • Effectively triage and continually prioritize and re-prioritize the team’s workload within broader TELUS strategic plans and anticipated technical risks.
  • Guide and continually coach team members to develop repeatable, sustainable processes and ensure knowledge sharing and working practices documentation.
  • Reinforce TELUS Health's Customers First values in ensuring positive security outcomes for external customers and internal stakeholders
  • Drive innovative and effective security engineering delivery, bringing significant improvements in cloud and application development security. 
  • Provide deep cyber security technical knowledge and support to business and development operations teams.

 


What you bring

 

  • 5 years of progressive experience within various Cybersecurity roles 
  • 1 or more years experience managing a technical team, preferably in a SOC environment
  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering, or Computer Science, or related disciplines, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An expert understanding of the fundamental concepts relating to security architecture and security controls frameworks such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF).
  • Proven track record of endpoint, network and Cloud Security improvements, including security architecture design patterns, and security policies.
  • Experience in offensive cyber security testing and remediation. 
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills, with an ability to tailor messaging on complex technical issues to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences

 

Nice to haves

 

  • Experience implementing solutions to security challenges in a variable-tempo, interrupt-driven operational environment
  • Professional security certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), or equivalent
