Lead and elevate a high performing team to even greater heights

Our team and what we'll accomplish together

You'll lead the Performance Observability Platforms team, a critical function that delivers real-time network visibility across wireless  and wireline infrastructure. This team owns the probe instrumentation strategy and data pipeline architecture that enables the entire Chief Technology Office (CTO) organization to understand how customers experience our network. These platforms are the foundation for AI-driven anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and automated root cause analysis, making it possible for TELUS to shift from reactive troubleshooting to proactive performance optimization. This team is transforming our architecture from legacy hardware-based probes to cloud-native, virtualized architectures while maintaining 24/7 operational excellence and 100% data integrity.

Unlike traditional platform teams, you'll see the direct impact of your work across the entire CTO organization and with customers in real time. You’ll empower TELUS to anticipate and prevent network issues before they impact customers, resulting in fewer outages, faster resolution times, and an improved customer experience across all service offerings.

What you'll do

  • Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing technical team
  • Lead organizational change by managing the transition from reactive troubleshooting to proactive performance optimization, helping your team understand the impact of their work across the entire CTO organization
  • Define and own the multi-year roadmap for probe instrumentation and data pipeline architecture, balancing operational excellence with strategic evolution across network transformations
  • Partner with CTO, Network Operations, Performance Engineering, Customer Care, and Data/AI teams to translate their observability needs into platform capabilities and drive cross-functional alignment
  • Lead vendor strategy and contract negotiations for multi-million dollar probe platform investments, manage SLAs, and optimize capital allocation to maximize platform value
  • Make sound technical decisions on probe placement, data pipeline design, and technology choices that anticipate network evolution including 5G SA rollout, network slicing, and core network modernization
  • Make tough technical calls quickly, drive change across the organization, and keep the platform running flawlessly while modernizing it
  • Communicate progress and wins to executive stakeholders, translating technical achievements into business outcomes and building visibility for your platform's strategic importance

What you bring

  • Proven ability to lead teams and drive change in complex environments, with resilience and energy to tackle challenges
  • Track record of building and retaining high-performing technical teams, with demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and develop them into leaders
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving mindset: you ask the right questions, challenge assumptions, and drive results
  • Experience managing 24/7 operational environments and strong cross-functional communication skills to influence senior technical experts and executive stakeholders
  • Proven ability to own a platform roadmap and drive multi-year transformations, with comfort translating between technical depth and business outcomes
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, negotiating complex contracts, and making sound technical architecture decisions on system design and technology choices
  • Ability to see the probe platform not as a tool, but as a product that serves your internal customers, balancing operational stability with strategic innovation
  • Comfort with ambiguity and driving clarity through data, while holding vendors accountable and maintaining strong partnerships
  • Ability to enable AI-driven automation and predictive intelligence that prevents network outages before they impact customers and gets TELUS ahead of the competition

Great-to-haves

  • Hands-on experience with packet capture, XDR generation, protocol decoding, and understanding of data pipelines, high-capacity storage, and analytics platforms
  • Understanding of 4G/5G/wireline protocols (GTP, HTTP/2, SBA, PFCP) and wireline/broadband protocols (PPPoE, DHCP, QoS, BNG/BRAS, IP backbone)
  • Familiarity with NFV, Kubernetes, cloud-native architecture, or containerization platforms
  • AIOps and machine learning fluency, or understanding of how observability data feeds into AI/ML workflows
  • Experience with data lake and analytics platform integration
