Innovate, execute, and transform how Canada connects

Our team and what we’ll accomplish together

Some teams build apps. Some teams build strategies. Our team builds Canada.

We are the National Fibre Build team, and our purpose is to construct the physical infrastructure that underpins Canada's digital future. We are the grounded, results-driven force responsible for deploying thousands of kilometers of fibre optic cable, connecting communities and laying the groundwork for decades of progress.

Together, we will:

  • Execute with Precision: Mastermind and deliver one of the largest and most complex infrastructure builds in the nation, ensuring projects are on time, on budget, and of the highest quality.
  • Connect the Unconnected: Be at the forefront of bridging the digital divide, bringing essential high-speed internet to urban, rural, and remote communities.
  • Build an Enduring Platform: Create a robust, future-proof network that will serve as the foundation for 5G, IoT, and technologies we haven't even imagined yet.

As the leader of our Project Management efforts, you are the cornerstone of this entire operation. You are the architect of our execution plan, the driver of our progress, and the leader who empowers our teams to overcome obstacles and build with excellence. If you are a builder at heart who wants to construct something truly meaningful and lasting, this is your team.

What you’ll do

Your Mission: Architecting Canada's Connected Future

As our Manager of Technology Strategy for Fibre Deployment, you won't just be managing projects; you'll be the architect of our national connectivity roadmap. Your mission is to lead a world-class team dedicated to building our next-generation fibre network. You will be the driving force behind a major transformation, championing a culture of excellence focused on unparalleled customer experience, accelerated revenue growth, cost mastery, and rock-solid schedule predictability.

This is a leadership role for a builder, a strategist, and a transformer who is ready to leave a lasting mark on the Canadian landscape.

What You'll Achieve & How You'll Do It

You will orchestrate the efforts of a core program team and a wide range of cross-functional partners to deliver on these key pillars of success:

Strategic Leadership & Execution

  • Drive the National Roadmap: Develop and execute the long-term strategic vision for our fibre build, aligning multiple work streams and build partners toward a single, ambitious goal.
  • Master the Project Lifecycle: Command the end-to-end delivery of our deployment portfolio—from initiation and planning to execution and closing—masterfully balancing conflicting priorities, mitigating risks, and ensuring flawless control.
  • Own Performance & Outcomes: Establish and manage the critical KPIs and scorecards that define success. You will be empowered to negotiate with partners and stakeholders to resolve performance gaps and guarantee we meet our strategic objectives.

Team & Culture Cultivation

  • Build a High-Performance Engine: Recruit, mentor, and develop a diverse, high-performing team of deployment experts, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and recognition.
  • Champion Transformation: Guide and coach your team through a period of exciting evolution, continuously optimizing the processes and adopting the innovative tools that will keep us at the forefront of the industry.
  • Foster Unwavering Engagement: Make employee engagement and support your top priority, creating an environment where every team member feels valued, empowered, and connected to our collective mission.

Operational & Partner Excellence

  • Engineer Best-in-Class Processes: Spearhead the continuous improvement of our outside-plant construction methodologies. You will develop and deploy standardized, sustainable best practices that elevate quality, safety, and efficiency across all geographies.
  • Forge Strategic Alliances: Build and cultivate powerful relationships with internal teams and external suppliers. You will lead the negotiation of contracts and SLAs that drive mutual accountability and shared success.
  • Be the Guardian of Quality: Act as the ultimate owner of quality standards and compliance, ensuring every meter of fibre we deploy is built to last and ready to meet the future demands of our customers.

What you bring

To excel in this role, you are a rare blend of a strategic architect, an operational driver, and an inspiring people leader. You see the big picture without ever losing sight of the critical details that ensure flawless execution.

Strategic & Transformational Leadership

  • A "Customer First" Obsession: You bring a genuine passion for the customer experience, which informs every strategic decision you make.
  • Inspirational Leadership: You have a proven ability to lead, mentor, and empower high-performing, geographically diverse teams, backed by strong financial acumen.
  • A Change Champion's Mindset: You are skilled at guiding teams through transformation, overseeing the implementation of new initiatives and ensuring complete operational readiness in terms of skills, tools, and processes.
  • Architect of Robust Plans: You have experience developing and executing comprehensive, end-to-end plans for large-scale broadband builds at the community level

.

Mastery of Execution & Operational Excellence

  • End-to-End Project Command: You are a master of the full project lifecycle, with proven expertise in orchestrating complex projects while skillfully navigating competing priorities, risks, and dependencies.
  • Relentless Drive for Improvement: You have a track record of digging deep with root-cause analysis to eliminate inefficiencies, championing the standardization of best practices, and initiating automation to reduce manual effort.
  • Proactive Risk Management: You possess the foresight to conduct proactive risk assessments across all streams (inside build, outside build, materials, capital) and manage them before they become roadblocks.
  • Strategic Partner & Negotiator: You bring strong experience in negotiating and managing contracts and SLAs, transforming vendor relationships into true partnerships to resolve performance gaps and drive mutual success.

Foundational Expertise

  • Deep Telecom Acumen: You possess a solid understanding of telecommunication networks, including engineering principles, construction processes, and related technologies.
  • Data-Driven Performance Management: You are proficient in developing, maintaining, and managing insightful scorecards and performance measurement systems.
