As the leader of our business case and economics team, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of our PureFibre program. You will lead and empower a high-performing team responsible for the entire business case lifecycle, from strategic opportunity evaluation and financial analysis through to economic validation and the management of ongoing payments.
This is a leadership role for a professional who can set a clear vision, navigate complex executive discussions, and ultimately build the economic foundation for our strategic investments that fuel our growth across Canada.
Here's how:
- Establish a Robust Business Case Framework: You will oversee a portfolio of critical investment opportunities, establishing and reviewing a consistent and repeatable business case process. You will provide expert guidance on everything from initial strategic evaluation to final profitability analysis, ensuring a seamless and successful approval process.
- Champion Executive-Level Decision-Making: You will build the business cases and economic models presented to senior leadership. You will be responsible for translating your team’s complex analysis into clear, compelling narratives to secure approvals and drive strategic alignment.
- Lead Economic Analysis & Strategic Evaluation: You will set the direction for how we evaluate multiple strategic avenues and opportunities. You will go beyond individual business cases to develop innovative economic frameworks that ensure profitability, support long-term growth, and give TELUS a sustainable competitive advantage.
- Oversee Ongoing Payments and Performance Analysis: You will manage the ongoing access payments for successfully negotiated deals, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. You will work closely with key stakeholders to track actual revenue performance against the original business case assumptions, driving a feedback loop for continuous improvement.
- Lead & Mentor a High-Performing Team: You will manage, coach, and develop a team of senior professionals specializing in business case development, economic analysis, and financial administration. You will foster a culture of excellence, financial discipline, and attention to detail.
Qualifications
You're the missing piece of the puzzle
We are looking for a seasoned leader with deep expertise across both the financial and strategic aspects of corporate investment.
- You have 8-12 years of progressive experience in corporate finance, strategic planning, business case development, or a similar field, with a proven track record of developing and evaluating complex business cases for major investments.
- You have demonstrable experience leading and mentoring high-performing, analytically-focused teams.
- You are a leader who is equally adept at scrutinizing a complex financial model and translating complex economic data into strategic recommendations.
- You have deep expertise in the infrastructure, telecommunications, or technology sectors, with a strong understanding of partnership and investment models in these industries.
- You possess exceptional executive presence and communication skills, with a history of successfully influencing and collaborating with senior leaders.
Great-to-haves
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, or a related field. CPA, CFA, or CBV designation is a strong asset.
- Experience managing a portfolio of complex business cases or strategic initiatives in a fast-paced corporate environment.
- Experience with financial administration or management of long-term payment schedules associated with strategic partnerships.
