Senior Field Construction Manager

Alberta Network Engineering and Operations is seeking an experienced Senior Field Construction Manager to lead complex outside plant build programs in Calgary and surrounding areas. You'll take ownership of large-scale network infrastructure projects while mentoring junior team members and driving innovation across our field operations. This is a dynamic role where no two days are the same—you'll work on critical programs for TELUS, municipalities, utilities, and customers across Alberta, including large corporate national initiatives. Your strategic leadership, accountability for program success, and ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders will directly impact how we deliver network excellence.
What you'll do
- Lead and own multiple complex outside plant build programs in Calgary, driving accountability for safety, quality, and program delivery outcomes
- Analyze safety and quality trends to identify process improvements and implement lessons learned across teams
- Mentor and coach Field Construction Managers and other team members, fostering their development and supporting their growth within the organization
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including planning, design, capital project management, procurement, and cable assure teams to resolve complex challenges and drive innovative solutions
- Proactively manage relationships with external partners, municipalities, and utilities to coordinate work and overcome construction obstacles
- Develop and execute team goals aligned with business unit strategic priorities, ensuring program success and SLA compliance
- Lead construction feasibility reviews and pre-field activities, leveraging deep expertise in outside plant build processes
What you bring
- Post-secondary diploma or equivalent experience in a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in outside plant and inside plant build work, with demonstrated expertise at a journeyman level or equivalent
- Advanced collaborative skills across multiple internal and external stakeholders, with proven ability to influence and negotiate
- Advanced ability to lead multiple complex projects and programs simultaneously while managing competing priorities
- Advanced understanding of project management business processes and construction methodologies
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
- Proven ability to resolve complex challenges with innovative solutions, driving cost reduction and program evolution
- Demonstrated mentorship and coaching capabilities with junior team members
Great-to-haves
- Journeyman or Journeywoman certification in a relevant trade in Alberta
- Knowledge of TELUS-specific applications (SRM, SAP, Netcracker, myWorld, Circuit Vision, etc.)
- Experience reading civil, construction, and electrical drawings
