As Western Lead, Public Policy & Government Relations for TELUS Health, you'll drive strategy and execution of government relations initiatives across Western Provinces. You'll manage relationships with key stakeholders including executives, government officials, and civil society. Reporting to (and working closely with) the Director of Government Relations for TELUS Health, your role will be crucial in advancing TELUS Health's policy objectives and supporting business development opportunities. You will work closely with all parts of the organization to ensure advocacy efforts are cohesive and effective. Your energy, drive and resilience will get the job done and help create better health outcomes for all Canadians.

What you’ll do

 

Shape and execute TELUS Health public policy and government relations strategy including:

 

  • Managing complex policy issues and developing proactive solutions
  • Building and nurturing strategic relationships with political leaders, public servants, industry stakeholders, and relevant third-parties
  • Supporting revenue generation through collaboration with our public sector sales team
  • Creating compelling policy positions and communications materials
  • Collaborate closely with public relations and communications colleagues to support public narratives and positioning
  • Empowering TELUS team members with advocacy training and support
  • Providing regular strategic updates and support to executive leadership

 

 

Qualifications

 

What you bring
 

  • Minimum 5 years of government relations experience or substantial political sector experience
  • Proven track record in issues management and stakeholder relationship development
  • Demonstrated ability to influence policy across different levels of government and political parties
  • Experience in cross-functional project leadership and stakeholder alignment
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian healthcare ecosystem
  • Proven ability to support business development initiatives
  • Excellence in strategic communication, policy development and presentation skills
  • Adaptable approach to changing priorities and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Results-oriented mindset with focus on achieving policy and business objectives
  • A relentless positivity and get-stuff-done approach


Great-to-haves
 

  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English is a notable asset.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare policy, technologies and implementation.
  • Strong understanding and relationships in provincial politics

Salary Range:  $94,000-$142,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  15%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance, experience and location. Additionally, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
