The Opportunity
As an SEO Strategist on the Mobility team, you will own and execute organic search strategies that drive qualified traffic to TELUS's wireless and device product pages. You'll collaborate closely with content, product, engineering, and paid media teams to ensure our digital presence is optimized for both search engines and our customers. This is a high-impact, highly visible role where your work will directly influence how millions of Canadians discover TELUS Mobility offerings.
What You'll Do
- Develop and execute comprehensive SEO strategies for TELUS Mobility product pages, including smartphones, plans, and accessories
- Conduct in-depth keyword research to identify high-value search opportunities aligned with Mobility business objectives and seasonal campaigns (e.g., iPhone launches, Black Friday)
- Perform regular technical SEO audits and work with engineering teams to resolve issues related to crawlability, indexation, site speed, and Core Web Vitals
- Collaborate with content writers and UX teams to develop SEO-optimized landing pages, product descriptions, and editorial content
- Monitor, analyze, and report on organic search KPIs (rankings, traffic, CTR, conversions) using tools such as Google Search Console, SEMrush, and Adobe Analytics
- Conduct competitive analysis to identify gaps and opportunities in the Canadian telecom SEO landscape
- Support local SEO initiatives for TELUS retail locations and Mobility-related services
- Stay current on Google algorithm updates and industry best practices, proactively adapting strategies as needed
- Partner with the Paid Search team to align on keyword strategies and maximize blended SERP presence
- Contribute to quarterly SEO roadmaps and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders across the business
Qualifications
What You Bring
Required
- 3–5 years of hands-on SEO experience, ideally within a large enterprise or agency setting
- Proven track record of improving organic search rankings and driving measurable traffic growth
- Strong proficiency with SEO tools: Google Search Console, SEMrush or Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and Google Analytics / Adobe Analytics
- Solid understanding of technical SEO fundamentals (schema markup, crawl budget, hreflang, structured data, etc.)
- Experience with on-page and content optimization strategies
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
Nice to Have
- Experience in the telecommunications or e-commerce industry
- Familiarity with A/B testing methodologies
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, or JavaScript as it relates to SEO
- Experience with enterprise CMS platforms (e.g., Adobe Experience Manager)
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4) certification or equivalent
- Understanding of Canadian search behaviour and market nuances
- Experience working with a headless CMS like Contentful
