The Wireless Data Service DevOps under TELUS Chief Technology Office encourages and empowers its team members to challenge the status quo and to innovate with new services and service differentiators. As part of the Innovation Factory (IF) DevOps team you will help drive strategy, development and integrations of TELUS mission critical products and services which will transform mission critical communications. 


What you’ll do


The Innovation Factory regularly collaborates with customers, vendors and partners in addition to working closely with cross functional teams across the organization to realize our collective ‘customer first’ vision.  Responsibilities range from product evaluation, proof of concept development, solutioning, automation and integration of various solutions to support smart city and mission critical communication environments.

What you bring

 

  • Solid scripting and/or software development experience (at least one programming language - preferably GO. Python is an asset).
  • Highly experienced knowledge of backend and frontend development (JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS, HTML).
  • Familiarity with one of the frameworks: React or Angular.
  • Experience with at least one of the following relational database: PostgreSQL, NoSQL DB: Redis, Cassandra.
  • Exposure and experience with cloud technologies and CI/CD tools, particularly as applicable to cloudified network elements: KVM/QEMU, RedHat OpenStack, OpenShift, Git, Ansible, Jenkins.
  • Experience with exploring problems and opportunities through various lenses including customer experience and impacts.
  • Equipped with excellent strategic analysis and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret data and generate innovative and unique solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to use advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills to push the status quo, explore creative solutions and develop innovative products.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, telecommunications, Computer Science or related discipline (or equivalent experience). 

 

Great-to-haves

 

  • Experience with wireless networks and technologies. General understanding of wireless network elements/nodes including overall architecture; SIP, HTTP and TCP/IP protocols.
  • Knowledge of design thinking approach & methodologies.
  • Experience with automation and improving operational efficiencies.
  • Knowledge and experience working with the public safety industry and smart city. This includes industry technologies, trends, 3GPP, etc.
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum/Kanban
