TELUS Health Care Centres is currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to support our Edmonton Centre. Within this role, the technician is responsible for all areas related to screening, diagnostic testing, and ensuring our clients have a friendly and positive experience.

You're an out-of-the-box thinker who goes above and beyond to make each client experience a great one! Being flexible and innovative is a part of your approach. You will be directly collaborating with other experienced and like-minded phlebotomists while supporting other team members within the clinic. As part of the team, you'll be a key contact person for clients, physicians, staff, suppliers, and guests. In many instances, you will be the voice and face of the company.
What you’ll do
- Perform tests and diagnostic examinations on patients, including but not limited to: tonometry, audiograms, visual acuity, phlebotomy, urine collection, processing and accessioning, shipping, and analysis of samples
- Conduct resting ECGs and spirometry-based pulmonary tests
- Conduct in-clinic blood pressure
- Conduct height and weight checks
- Document diagnostic results in the chart and enter results manually as required
- Commit to continuous learning and becoming knowledgeable and proficient with new processes
- Collaborate with medical, kinesiology, and dietitian staff for thorough understanding of their specific needs
- Collaborate with providers (MDs & NPs) and administrative staff regarding client bookings, etc.
- Ensure accuracy of all communication with co-workers, suppliers, and doctors' offices
- Interact with testing laboratories as required
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, staff, suppliers, and other healthcare providers in the community
- Provide support to other staff as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
- A minimum of 1 year of practical work experience in phlebotomy and performing ECGs
- Strong knowledge of desktop computer systems, Microsoft Office, and Google Drive
- Exceptional organizational, customer service skills, strong communication and collaborative ability, and a willingness to learn
- Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification
- CPR Certification
Great-to-haves
- Knowledge and experience working with Med Access, our Electronic Medical Record System
- Certification in Audiometry and/or Spirometry
