KEY PURPOSE:


To perform Service Delivery and Assurance functions related to broadcast, video, transport and data network elements and services.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:


Technical

 

  • Test, maintain, and repair broadcast, video, transport, and data network elements and services
  • Perform service assurance through alarm/ticket monitoring
  • Focus on quality assurance, on the Optik TV Platform, in relation to Simulcast Substitutions, Premium Sports Packages, Pay Per View and High Profile Events
  • Perform troubleshooting, testing and fault isolation
  • Complete preventative maintenance routines to ensure reliability
  • Work with internal departments/vendors for the implementation of hardware, software, firmware, product change, upgrades and commissioning of network elements/services
  • Monitor Optik TV networks and issue regular trouble updates

 
Communications

 

  • Explain/discuss details regarding trouble status and maintenance activities
  • Initiate and/or respond to queries, discuss trouble details and confirm resolutions directly with external/internal stakeholders


Administration
 

  • Provide information on tasks, maintain logs and update applicable corporate systems
  • Document and administer/track maintenance routines for broadcast, video, transport, and data network elements

 

RESULTS OR OUTCOMES:

 

  • Work is performed within defined time requirements to meet company quality standards to ensure the reliability of Optik TV Content
  • Preventative maintenance routines and administrative responsibilities are completed accurately and timely

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Detailed knowledge of broadcast / video applications and principles
  • Detailed knowledge of troubleshooting. Ability to identify, investigate, troubleshoot and resolve troubles in an organized, and efficient way
  • Knowledge of alarming and ticketing systems
  • Ability to utilize existing documentation to foster independent troubleshooting
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaboratively with other departments
  • Must be willing and able to work 24/7 including various shifts as assigned (such as evenings, overnights, weekends and statutory holidays), based on business needs
  • Demonstrated effective decision-making skills while under limited supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems and situations, take appropriate action, implement solutions or escalate as required
  • Maintain a high level of performance under the pressure of time constraints and a fast-paced changing environment
  • Knowledge of network technology, architecture and elements, encoding solutions, satellite delivery and a strong understanding of their associated inter-workings
  • Working knowledge of IP Networks
  • Must be able to understand and effectively perform work in accordance with Methods of Procedure
  • Must be able to operate tools and test equipment
  • Must follow safe work practices and abide by all safety rules and regulations
  • Demonstrated professional oral and written communications skills
  • Self-motivated, work well with minimal or no direct supervision
  • Ability to effectively handle both favorable and unfavorable internal/external interactions
  • Demonstrated ability in planning and organizing to meet scheduled deadlines
  • Commit to continuous learning. Demonstrate the ability to learn and apply learned skills to related situations
  • Knowledge of maintenance practices / routines on network elements
  • Must meet applicable testing requirements
  • Strong keyboarding skills and must possess Personal Computer navigational skills
  • Knowledge of products and services for business and residential customers
  • Fluent in English
  • Must have a Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Experience in Installation maintenance, and/or commissioning of network elements (hardware, software and power) would be an asset
  • Post-Secondary Education in Telecommunication or Broadcast Technologies
