Our team and what we'll accomplish together
Join the Chief Technology Office team where we're transforming how TELUS manages and operates our network infrastructure through AI and intelligent automation. We're at the beginning of an ambitious journey toward autonomous network operations that leverage machine learning, predictive analytics, and AI-driven orchestration across our wireless, wireline, and edge computing platforms. This role will be central to making that vision a reality. You'll define AI architectural strategies, build production-ready intelligent systems, and champion AI capabilities across CTO teams. What makes this role special is the combination of deep technical expertise with meaningful leadership impact. You'll be both an expert practitioner building cutting-edge solutions and a catalyst for change, helping us build a culture of continuous learning and innovation in AI and network automation.
What you'll do
- Identify and develop AI-powered solution strategies for network automation, anomaly detection systems, performance monitoring, and autonomous network operations across wireless, wireline, and edge computing platforms
- Define and architect key AI components for intelligent network solutions including machine learning pipelines, real-time analytics engines, predictive models, LLMs and SLMs, and integration with existing TELUS network infrastructure
- Design and build production-ready AI systems including anomaly detection, predictive maintenance algorithms, and automated remediation workflows that optimize network performance and ROI
- Drive AI transformation strategies for core network functions, implementing intelligent automation solutions with TELUS-wide impact on network performance and customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with network operations teams, business units, and customer experience teams to obtain alignment across AI/ML initiatives and autonomous network implementations
- Champion AI capabilities and promote adoption across CTO units, ensuring teams stay current with rapidly evolving AI methods and autonomous network frameworks
- Communicate complex AI/ML technical decisions and strategic analysis of autonomous network benefits to TELUS stakeholders and executives, including business impact of AI-driven network improvements
What you bring
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with expert knowledge of AI/ML frameworks applied to telecommunications networks, including deep learning, reinforcement learning, LLMs, and time-series analysis for network optimization and anomaly detection
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities as an individual contributor, including championing new technologies and driving adoption across teams
- Advanced proficiency in software engineering with expertise in languages like Python, Java, or C++, and deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, microservices, and API design
- Deep knowledge of data architecture with ability to design data pipelines for collecting, cleaning, and transforming data at scale, including strong data governance and management principles
- Advanced proficiency with major cloud platforms (GCP or AWS), including expertise in containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes, and serverless technologies
- Expert knowledge of telecommunications systems (wireless/wireline/edge) with focus on AI integration points and intelligent network function deployment
- Advanced proficiency in network automation technologies including intent-based networking, and AI-driven orchestration platforms for autonomous network operations
- Excellent knowledge of network performance monitoring, customer experience analytics, and autonomous network frameworks with expertise in real-time data processing, predictive analytics, and intelligent alerting systems
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with ability to influence and collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels, including executives
- Strong financial management, risk assessment, and modeling skills
Great-to-haves
- Familiarity with DataOps, MLOps, and platform engineering practices
- Experience with network function virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN) architectures
- Knowledge of edge computing platforms and distributed AI systems
