Are you ready to utilize your strategic planning skills and leadership to support the development and successful execution of TELUS’ Indigenous Employment Strategy? 


Our team develops and executes on TELUS’ corporate Reconciliation commitments and action plan in collaboration with business units across TELUS. This portfolio is on the cutting edge of innovation in the telecommunications space where TELUS is actively engaged with Indigenous communities to identify opportunities to expand broadband technology and services to areas otherwise unreachable. This is a fast-growing portfolio and one of the most strategic programs at TELUS.

You will use your experience working with Indigenous communities to provide expert advice related to TELUS’ Indigenous Employment Strategy and design. Through a strong partnership with our People and Culture department, the successful candidate will complete specific operational and strategic work to deliver business results, while ensuring that TELUS is positioned as an employer of choice for Indigenous Peoples. You will regularly connect your work to TELUS’ Indigenous Reconciliation Strategy, set inspirational goals, define clear expected outcomes and ensure clear accountability for follow through. Your expertise will position TELUS to support the unique needs of Indigenous team members, and to create career development opportunities for Indigenous Peoples. 


Here’s how:

 

  • Ensure effective implementation of multi-year Indigenous Employment Strategy (including effective governance, tactic execution, operating framework, Indigenous inclusion tools and processes) to deliver on business goals 
  • Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making through strong partnership with the People and Culture department
  • Build, maintain and strengthen relationships with Indigenous communities and Indigenous-led organizations, while supporting development and execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and best practices
  • Utilize employment data analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues 
  • Contribute to assessments of human resource policies, processes and programs
  • Develop unique approaches and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders for making business decisions and implementing strategic initiatives
  • Establish yourself internally, as a trusted Reconciliation advisor and a known collaborative, creative, problem-solver

Qualifications

 

You’re the missing piece of the puzzle: 

 

  • Experience executing on Indigenous employment strategies/projects or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion related employment strategies
  • Support change management programs of varying scope and type, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management and sustainment of initiatives
  • Excellent written communication skills coupled with the ability to write or edit high quality business documents.
  • Provide necessary influence and negotiation practices to achieve business objectives.
  • Excellent oral communication skills, facilitation skills, conflict resolution skills, public speaking ability, and active listening skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills along with the ability to prioritize tasks and effective decision
  • making ability.
  • Ability to break down strategic problems and analyze data and information to provide Indigenous talent management insights and recommendations; may include analysis on workforce plans & forecasts including talent pool gaps and Indigenous inclusion 
  • Through strong partnership with People and Culture, consult on the effective enhancements of internal talent management principles, process and tools 

 

Great to haves: 

 

  • 6+ years of relevant experience 
  • Experience with the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business’ Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) Program
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Preference will be given to Indigenous applicants
