Our team and what we’ll accomplish together


As Team leader for transport technologies, focused on leading the next generation transport technology introduction, evolve network acceptance, coordinate projects, and lead network upgrades. You will also be the main National Network Performance stakeholder for operational readiness and process improvements working closely with Transport Assurance, Network Integrity, Transport Facility Provisioning, Technology Strategy, and NOC teams.


You are an expert in the hands - on troubleshooting of optical transport network equipment with a strong knowledge of Fujitsu and Ciena technologies and their management systems.


You will be providing technical support to transport network operations teams for service troubles. You will also work with Technology Strategy engineering teams and equipment vendors for new technology deployments, helping to build, maintain, and operate a reliable optical transport network for TELUS' customers.


What you’ll do


You will collaborate with a cross - functional team of dedicated and skilled technicians to:


  • Quickly restore services impacting our customers
  • Prepare documentation that your team can rely on and our partner teams can use for guidance
  • Deploy automations to reduce toil and improve our ability to support our customers
  • Team lead for Transport in supporting Transport Performance technicians, and working directly with equipment vendors
  • Develop and maintain test and acceptance scorecard for new builds
  • Main stakeholder for new technology introduction, as well as develop/adapt future operations support model to align with network function virtualization / software-defined networks





What you bring


  • You have a Technical Diploma or equivalent degree
  • 5 years’ experience in the Telecom industry leading teams and projects while supporting complex transport networks
  • Experience working in operational support and assurance roles
  • Technical expertise with Ciena, Fujitsu, legacy Transport platforms, and Google workplace
  • Ability to lead projects and people effectively
  • Ability to troubleshoot with limited information, both working alone and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Ownership mindset and result driven




  • Ciena, Alcatel, Cisco, Juniper certifications would be an asset
  • Knowledge of evolution of Transport technologies from LH, to CPL, to next generation Optical 3.0 CDC technologies is an asset
  • Bilingual in English and French
