As a Senior Technology Architect you will work with a team of talented full stack developers, testers, and product managers to support and improve the Med Access Electronic Medical Records product, used by thousands of clinicians. Be a part of a team that enables healthcare professionals to provide a better service and drive improvements to patient care for millions of Canadians.
 
Here's how

  • Work with developers, quality assurance analysts and business analysts on the product engineering team to collaboratively deliver a reliable product through sound design, careful development and rigorous testing.
  • Collaborate on migration efforts to move our product to public cloud in order to improve cost, reliability and security.
  • Assist in diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving production incidents.
  • Scrutinize application performance, identify areas for improvement and implement performance enhancements.
  • Analyze upcoming business requirements and work with other architects and teams to design and build the necessary solutions.
  • Mentor and coach developers, helping them to improve their skills and product knowledge.
  • Focus on improving reliability and quality of the application. Exemplify best practices in implementing patterns and solutions that can be adopted by the development team.

Qualifications

You're the missing piece of the puzzle:

  • 9+ years in a Senior Java Development or Architecture role.
  • Strong SQL skills, knowledge of database performance optimization and resolution of database deadlocks, preferably with experience in MySQL.
  • Solid experience building enterprise-grade, highly reliable software.
  • Ability to analyze heap-dumps and to determine the root cause of out of memory exceptions.
  • In-depth knowledge of multi-threaded programming constructs.
  • Previous experience developing with any of the following technologies is an asset:
    • JSP
    • Struts
    • Hibernate
    • Distributed caches
    • XSLT/XML
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience in software development.
  • Creative and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Passionate interest in technology and current trends.
  • Strength in communicating technical concepts to different audiences, such as technical design documentation for developers and technical presentations for non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Goal-oriented, self-starter with a strong ability to work independently.

 

Great-to-haves

  • Experience moving traditional applications to a cloud platform
  • Experience in Healthcare IT
  • Hands on experience with Agile development
