The specific area of transformation you will be facilitating is working closely with our build partners to maximize build efficiency, increase schedule predictability and identify unit cost efficiencies while driving sustainable and strong engagement with our partners.

 

 

What you'll do

 

As a Manager - Technology Strategy, you will be leading a world-class fibre deployment team with focus on transformation, quality of customer experience, time to revenue, cost effectiveness and schedule predictability.

 

You will collaborate with both a core program team and cross-functional teams to support the following key activities:

 

  • Team Leadership & Development: Build, develop, and lead a high-performing cross-functional team focused on access network fibre infrastructure deployment
  • Outside-plant construction: Feeder, distribution, drop and/or building entrance cable placement
  • Negotiating and managing contracts and SLAs with internal and external products and services suppliers
  • Quality & Process Management: Maintain high quality standards and compliance to ensure work is completed as planned to meet strategic objectives by working closely with internal and external teams to develop consistent operating processes within the construction discipline.
  • Strategic Planning: Create and drive a long-term roadmap for your team and build partners, and align multiple work streams involved in the build of all TELUS access infrastructure.
  • Team Transformation: Guide, coach and transform your team as we continually optimize the processes and tools supporting this organization.
  • Employee Engagement: Ensure high employee engagement, support and recognition is a priority.
  • Performance Management: Develop, maintain, and manage relevant scorecards as measures of success. Negotiate with partner organizations or companies as required to resolve performance gaps.
  • Process Optimization: Drive efficiency and effectiveness through the development and deployment of standardized and sustainable best practices across customer segments and geographies.
  • Project Management: Manage all aspects of projects over their entire lifecycle (initiate, plan, execute, control, close) while ensuring tight control of the project, including dealing with conflicting priorities, issues, risks, dependencies and change.
  • Relationship Management: Develop client-partner relationships to ensure a common understanding of TELUS expectations across all groups.

Qualifications

 

What you bring

 

  • Language Requirements: Bilingual communication skills (verbal and written) in French and English
  • Leadership & Management: Customer First passion with strong management/leadership skills and financial acumen, including experience providing day-to-day leadership support to geographically diverse teams
  • Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of telecommunication networks, engineering and construction processes, and related technologies
  • Project Management: Proven expertise managing all aspects of projects across the full lifecycle (initiate, plan, execute, control, close) while effectively managing competing priorities, risks, issues, dependencies, and change
  • Strategic Planning: Experience leading development and execution of robust end-to-end plans at community level to support broadband builds
  • Risk Management: Proven ability to conduct proactive risk assessment and management across all streams (inside build, outside build, materials availability, capital approvals)
  • Process Improvement: Track record of conducting root-cause analysis for inefficiencies, implementing improvements, and driving standardization of best practices
  • Vendor & Contract Management: Experience negotiating and managing contracts, SLAs, and partner relationships to resolve performance gaps
  • Change Management: Experience overseeing implementation of new initiatives and process evolution, ensuring operational readiness in terms of team member levels, skills, tools, and processes
  • Automation & Efficiency: Track record of initiating and supporting automation activities aimed at reducing manual transactions
  • Performance Management: Experience developing, maintaining, and managing scorecards and performance measurement systems
Salary Range:  $110,000-$166,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  20%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
