We are looking for an energetic and highly motivated Clinic Operations Coordinator to join our growing genetic team at TELUS Health. The ideal candidate will be extremely organized with a high attention to detail, supporting our Genetic Counsellors and providing high quality patient experiences. They will contribute to our Genetics program by assisting with patient inquiries, scheduling, genetic testing coordination, and administrative tasks. This is a primarily remote position with the opportunity for on-site work at one of our TELUS Health Care Centre locations.
What you’ll do
As a member of the Clinical Services team, you will be a key contributor to our Genetics program, where you will:
- Review and respond to patient and staff inquiries related to our genetic services; triage to Genetic Counsellor as appropriate
- Work with genetics team to support the development/management of Genetic Counsellor schedules, including appointment scheduling
- Assist with coordinating genetic testing, including invoicing, the shipment and tracking of home sample collection kits, and subsequent referrals alongside the Genetic Counsellor
- Assist with patient chart review and case preparation for Genetic Counsellor and other clinicians, as directed
- Assist with patient interpretation letters regarding test results
- Provide reminder phone calls/emails to patients and the genetics team as needed
- Compose and prepare correspondence, presentations, and additional materials as needed with the support of the Genetic Counsellor
- Upload documents into the electronic medical record system
- Input data, maintain, and audit databases
- Perform other program related tasks including developing clinical materials, creating databases, and clinical research, depending on applicant skill and interest
- Perform other duties as appropriate
Qualifications
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education
- Strong interest/knowledge in the field of genetic counselling through university coursework, employment, volunteer work or job shadowing
- Engaged, proactive and compassionate about delivering high quality patient experience
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Extremely organized with a high attention to detail, with specific attention paid to accurately recording data
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Tech-savvy, comfortable working within different softwares and programs, including but not limited to EMRs, Google Workspace, and Microsoft
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort working independently and within a team environment
Great-to-haves
- Bilingual professional proficiency in both English and French (preferred)
- Competitive candidates will have experience in a genetics specialty clinic
- Experience in performing and critiquing scientific literature searches
- Experience with peer support or counselling
Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will on a regular basis interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its national scope.
