Status: Regular, full time (37.5 hours per week)
Schedule: 8:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m

We are looking for a dynamic and skilled laboratory technician to join our team in a private clinic. The selected candidate will be responsible for laboratory analyses and taking blood samples, and for ensuring quality service and a positive experience for our patients. This role is essential to supporting our nurses and improving the efficiency of patient care.

Here’s how
- Perform blood sampling (phlebotomy) safely and professionally, following applicable standards and clinical protocols
- Prepare, handle and process samples for analysis or dispatch to an external laboratory, as directed
- Ensure maintenance and proper operation of laboratory equipment
- Manage and organize the inventory of supplies required for laboratory activities
- Manage and order vaccines
- Enter patient and sample data into computer systems accurately and confidentially
- Collaborate with nurses and medical staff to optimize workflows and minimize patient wait times
- Adhere to quality control and biosafety policies at all times
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to patients' needs and concerns
- Engage in continuous learning and strive to develop proficiency and expertise in new processes, while also providing relevant training to nurses
- Ensure the accuracy of all communications with colleagues, suppliers and physicians' offices
- Maintain all diagnostic equipment and communicate with medical equipment suppliers as required, and inform the manager when equipment needs to be serviced or replaced
- Interact with test laboratories as required
- Provide support to other staff members as needed
- Carry out other duties as assigned
Qualifications
What you bring
- Diploma in medical laboratory technology or other recognized equivalent training
- Phlebotomy certification is a major asset
- Minimum 1 to 2 years' experience in a laboratory or clinical environment
- Proficiency in blood sampling techniques on patients (adults, elderly patients)
- Functional English
- Knowledge of biosafety standards and clinical protocols
- Computer skills, including the ability to use laboratory management systems
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a team
- Organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment
Basic knowledge of English is required, because you will, on a regular basis, interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.), interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.), as part of this position's main responsibilities, given its provincial scope.
