Your experience using SAP as your platform for service delivery, investigations and problem solving, will support your individual and team goals. You’ll also team up with friendly, supportive internal partners, including your colleagues, leadership, controllers, key business stakeholders and external stakeholders, such as government agencies, to shape the future of work.
Here's how:
Operate as a Trusted Advisor, Subject Matter Expert and Leader in Financial/Payroll Accounting:

Provide guidance to the P&C Operations leadership team and act as a subject matter expert that can be relied upon in day-to-day and unique situations

Showcase your proven ability to build relationships in a national and remote environment, at all levels of the organization

Represent P&C Operations in work, interactions. meetings and projects, on a regular basis
-
Collaborate with key stakeholders to support various programs for our team members, including recommendations to gain direction, alignment, and support from your leader

Informally lead and provide support to our off-shore team of financial analysts
Execution and/or support of our biweekly, monthly, quarterly and annual payroll accounting functions:

Accountable for payroll postings, GL accounts, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, employee receivables, liability and expenses, banking accounts and major payroll government remittances including CRA and MRQ

Manage inputs and outputs of payroll financials ensuring compliance with TELUS policies, legislated or collective agreement negotiated requirements, federal or provincial legislation

Lead for portfolio, both internal and external auditor’s Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements to ensure integrity of data and brand of TELUS

Accountable for the accuracy, limit in use and protection of team member data within your role

Leverage and enhance our use of the SAP payroll and financial systems to support your deliverables
Provide critical business insights and thought leadership:

Prepare and deliver compelling executive level presentations with thoughtful recommendations using your advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities in conjunction with your excellent verbal and written communication skills

Identify, develop and implement radical simplification and everyday innovation as part of our everyday culture

Leverage financial information to create and support companywide financial projections, modelling and budgeting
-
Provide expertise in payroll/accounting processes and related system requirements for HR and payroll financial operations

Create financial reporting and related processes to support evolving customer demands
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
-
More than 10 years of experience in payroll and financial accounting, systems and compliance across federal, provincial and collective agreement environments within large, complex organizations
-
Payroll accounting/accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA) or equivalent
-
Strong quantitative, problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate financial insights into clear recommendations for senior leadership

Advanced proficiency in Excel and SAP Human Resources (HR) and Financial Information (FI) modules
-
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and lead change through team-oriented collaboration at all levels of the organization
-
Excellent organizational, prioritization and facilitation skills with a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail

Experience working with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), Revenu Québec and internal and external auditors
-

Nice-to-haves

Experience working in SAP cloud environments

Bilingual in English and French (written and oral)
Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.) as part of this position's main responsibilities given its national scope.
