We are seeking an exceptional leader to reimagine corporate communications at TELUS. Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the VP, Communications will drive transformational change, shaping strategy, innovation, and excellence across a global organization committed to remarkable human outcomes. This role will focus on crafting compelling narratives that align TELUS’ financial performance, growth strategy, and social purpose while protecting and enhancing the company’s reputation.

What you'll lead and/or demonstrate:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and steward a unified corporate narrative, integrating TELUS’ strategy, financial performance, and social purpose into a clear, differentiated story for stakeholders
- Capital Markets & Financial Communications: Collaborate with Finance and Investor Relations to translate complex financial data into compelling external narratives, strengthening credibility and valuation
- Government & Public Affairs: Align communications strategies with regulatory priorities, public policy advocacy, and national initiatives such as healthcare innovation and digital infrastructure
- Issues Management & Crisis Leadership: Lead enterprise-wide crisis communications and issues management, ensuring rapid, transparent responses to protect trust and reputation
- Performance & Insights: Establish measurement frameworks linking communications outcomes to business impact, leveraging data and analytics for optimization.
- Digital, Social & Media Strategy: Elevate executive visibility and thought leadership across digital and social platforms while cultivating strategic media relationships to showcase TELUS’ leadership in innovation, technology, and sustainability
- Organizational Transformation: Optimize global communications structures across TELUS business units, championing AI adoption to enhance productivity and efficiency
- Leadership & Talent Development: Build and inspire a high-performing communications team, fostering innovation, continuous improvement, and engagement while coaching team members to achieve their goals
Qualifications
You’re the missing piece of the puzzle
You are likely in a similar senior communications role today, with many of the following talents and experience items:
- Leadership & Strategy: Proven ability to lead large-scale transformations and navigate complex matrixed organizations, partnering effectively with C-suite executives
- Communications Expertise: Advanced storytelling, media relations, crisis management, and reputation management skills across all mediums
- AI & Technology Fluency: Experience leveraging AI and emerging digital tools to drive innovation and productivity
- Global Experience: Success in leading communications across diverse geographies and cultures
- Influence & Resilience: Inspirational leadership with strong consultative and negotiation skills, thriving in complex, ambiguous environments
- Experience & Education: 10+ years in senior communications roles within complex corporate environments or top-tier agencies; bachelor’s degree
Great to haves
We are especially motivated to connect with individuals with one or more of the following:
- Senior leader level communications experience in a large, complex publicly traded enterprise environment, such as telecommunications, banking or IT
- Bilingual French-English
- Master’s degree and/or professional accreditation (ABC, APR)

Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will on a regular basis interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its national scope.
