Our UX team is looking for a skilled user experience (UX) designer who is passionate about making complex healthcare systems simple and efficient to use. As part of this dynamic team you will have the opportunity to work on platforms across TELUS Health Virtual Care with initial focus on innovative patient-centered solutions connecting people and families with innovative care options, and helping them live their healthiest lives.

As a UX designer working collaboratively within an integrated team of skilled product managers, UX researchers, service designers, software architects and developers, you will effectively transform and communicate user research findings into coherent navigation flows and compelling user experiences which will:

  • Improve access to innovative care solutions
  • Ensure patient safety
  • Increase product value and address new market opportunities
  • In essence, make healthcare delivery better, faster, and safer for everyone.

 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate knowledge of tactical elements of user-centered design. You demonstrate a developing strength with UX and visual design fundamentals, including information architecture, screen flows, prototyping at various levels of fidelity, customer journey mapping, and visual design.

 

Here’s how - You will:

  • Apply user-centered design processes, human factors, usability heuristics, and industry best practices to develop world class digital experiences for all screen sizes
  • Assist in planning, performing and analyzing user research to understand and clearly articulate underlying user need
  • Collaborate with others to define problems, generate solutions, and formulate recommendations
  • Work with product owners to understand business requirements
  • Assist in developing user experience architecture, user flows, user stories and journey maps
  • Collaborate with your team to create wireframes and prototypes
  • Deliver pixel perfect visual designs based on UX wireframes and specs.
  • Engage the TELUS Health Design System to create experiences that are brand-consistent across all platforms.
  • Keep up with the latest trends, methodologies and tools in native app design.
  • Contribute to and deploy information architecture structures, pattern libraries and style guides to ensure consistency and quality across experiences.
  • Participate in design critiques and reviews of your work and its iterations

Qualifications

You're the missing piece of the puzzle. You have:

  • Deep understanding and real passion for UX and a drive to craft engaging customer experiences
  • Highly developed production skills, an eye for detail of typography, intuitive layouts and design system development
  • Highly detail oriented, organized, and have exceptional analytical skills
  • Experience in user-centered design, information architecture, interaction design, wireframing, and prototyping
  • Known for your ability to recognize and predict use-cases & user interaction, working with happy path, edge and corner cases and familiar with how to incorporate them into designs
  • Enthusiastic about modern design practices and methodologies, and adept at working in a highly-collaborative lean, agile environment
  • Deep understanding of how to design for all screen sizes, from native mobile to browser.
  • Solid understanding of accessibility best practices, and an ability to create accessible products
  • Talented at understanding design problems, breaking them into actionable pieces and providing insight and clarity
  • 1-3 years of proven work experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role demonstrated via a portfolio of design projects
  • Demonstrated skills in using Figma and leveraging design systems, libraries, and components
  • Knowledge of other industry-standard design tools including the Adobe Creative Suite, Miro, Google docs, InVision, whiteboard, pen and paper
  • Team spirit; strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Able to communicate design rationale and build consensus
  • BSc in Design, Computer Science or relevant field

 

Great-to-haves

  • Masters in related fields
  • Experience working in consulting, independent start-up, and/or corporate environments
  • Healthcare experience 
  • Bilingualism - French/English
