Our UX team is looking for a skilled user experience (UX) designer who is passionate about making complex healthcare systems simple and efficient to use. As part of this dynamic team you will have the opportunity to influence the evolution of products across TELUS Health with initial focus on innovative solutions connecting people and families with innovative care options, and helping them live their healthiest lives.

As an experienced UX designer working collaboratively within an integrated team of skilled product managers, UX researchers, service designers, software architects and developers, you will effectively transform and communicate user research findings into coherent navigation flows and compelling user experiences which will:


  • Improve access to innovative care solutions
  • Ensure patient safety
  • Increase product value and address new market opportunities
  • In essence, make healthcare delivery better, faster, and safer for everyone

Here’s how - You will:


  • Be responsible for the design of the end-to-end experience of innovative, virtual care options for Canadians and their families 
  • Rapidly develop deep healthcare domain knowledge
  • In collaboration with product managers and user researchers, plan, perform and analyze user research to understand and clearly articulate underlying user needs, 
  • Translate research findings into meaningful personas, journey maps, and usage scenarios to inform requirements
  • Define high level user experience architecture, navigation and task flows to support user needs and goals
  • Lead the iterative creation of innovative, highly usable and visually effective user interfaces, wireframes of navigation flows, rapid prototypes and other artifacts for customer and internal stakeholder review including technical feasibility
  • Lead the refinement of designs with the development team, clearly communicating user needs and design specifications; working collaboratively to arrive at solutions that are technically cost-effective while still providing a superior user experience
  • Work closely with the development team to review changes and ensure that final products are aligned with designs and user needs
  • Continuously develop skills and knowledge of latest UX best practices
  • Coach and mentor more junior UX staff and product teams on principles of user-centered design



You're the missing piece of the puzzle. You have:


  • A BA/BS degree or higher in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, service, product, industrial) or in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology or other related fields
  • 5+ years of experience driving user experience design preferably in healthcare areas such as clinical software, health insurance, pharmacy, virtual care, etc
  • Hyper-focused on delivering great user experiences aligned to business outcomes and passionate about modern design practices and methodologies, but flexible enough to think outside the box when required
  • The ability to optimize human cognitive and sensory strengths/weaknesses through your skill in visual design
  • Worked collaboratively in an interdisciplinary software development team resulting in a deep understanding of:
    • The digital product development life cycle in a highly-collaborative, agile environment 
    • How to effectively integrate user experience best-practice into the software development life cycle
    • How to influence product requirements through UX research and analysis
  • Experience facilitating user research interviews, concept reviews, usability testing, design sprints, as well as adeptness in communicating design rationale and building consensus
  • Experience in successfully engaging all key stakeholders in the product development process (product management, BAs, technical architects, developers, QA)
  • Experienced in user-centred design (UCD), information architecture (IA), interaction design (IxD)
  • Demonstrated skills in using Figma and leveraging design systems, libraries, and components
  • Knowledge of other industry-standard design tools including the Adobe Creative Suite, Omnigraffle, Google docs, InVision, whiteboard, pen and paper
  • Deep understanding of how to design for all screen sizes, from native mobile to browser



  • An advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology or other related fields
  • Experience in healthcare industry
  • Fluency in both English and French is an asset
