Business Analyst Role Overview:

You are a detail oriented business analyst looking to make a difference in the healthcare IT space. You enjoy problem solving and working with others to bring clarity to murky and challenging situations. You are versed in both technology and business processes and can bridge the gap between the two. You enjoy working with different teams and multiple stakeholders, and would enjoy the opportunity to work on multiple programs at TELUS Health.

 
What YOU Get to Do:


Work with internal development teams, clients and partners to define business requirements and develop statements of work for the addition of new capabilities to existing TELUS Health IT solutions. You would then support the execution of those statements of work throughout the software delivery lifecycle, helping to ensure a successful and high quality delivery to our client. You would also support continuous improvement activities within the TELUS delivery teams.

 

In more detail, your work likely to include, but not necessarily be limited to, any and all of the following:

 

  • Collaborate with clients, partners, internal development teams and other stakeholders
  • Perform requirements assessments and translate requirements into specific system specifications
  • Conduct gap analysis between requirements and available solutions
  • Perform options assessments with impact analysis of alternatives
  • Document end-to-end business workflows and operational support processes
  • Define and document business, clinical, and end-user requirements
  • Develop effort and cost estimates for project completion 
  • Develop contractual statements of work for the delivery of updates and new capabilities for TELUS Health IT solutions
  • Support project planning for the delivery of those statements of work
  • Ensure alignment on requirements and deliverables across TELUS development teams, TELUS partners and clients throughout the delivery of those statements of work
  • Pro-actively identify and address requirements gaps that may arise during the delivery of those statements of work
  • Support quality assurance activities and validate test coverage
  • Develop product or program documentation including user guides, training materials and release notes
  • Oversee quality management and system validation processes
  • Develop and maintain requirements and business process documentation for TELUS solutions 
  • Partner with business and development teams to develop and execute process improvements
  • Contribute to Roadmap planning for TELUS Health IT programs

 

 

Qualifications

 

What YOU Bring:

 

A Professional Designation/Certification:

 

  • A graduate or undergraduate degree in business administration, health informatics, engineering, computer science, health management, clinical profession, a related discipline or relevant experience

 

Required Experience:

 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar role in service operations or consumer business environments
  • Experience in healthcare or insurance, particularly in clinical system or IT implementation
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google productivity tools
  • Demonstrated understanding of software design, implementation, and deployment processes, including:
    • Requirements gathering
    • Privacy and security considerations
    • System and business readiness assessment
    • Process improvement and change management
    • Issue management
    • Training development and delivery
    • Operational support planning 

 

Experience that would be an asset:

 

  • Experience working with large government or government adjacent agencies
  • Experience in the healthcare insurance space and more specifically provincial compensation boards 
  • Knowledge of HL7 (V2 and V3), FHIR, CDA or other Healthcare IT standards

Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its national scope.

Salary Range:  $92,000-$138,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  15%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance, experience and location. Additionally, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
