The TELUS Government and Regulatory Affairs (GRA) team is looking for a smart, conscientious, and collaborative professional with exceptional writing skills and a proven ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, concisely, and creatively to executives and senior leaders.


You will be joining a talented, motivated, diverse, and compassionate team who are committed to improving the state of telecom policy and regulation in Canada. As part of a leading technology and social purpose company, you will contribute to policy changes across departments and levels of government, including in critical areas such as 5G deployment, Indigenous connectivity, virtual healthcare, and climate change. By leading the development of board submissions, executive briefings, and internal reports, you will ensure alignment between GRA advocacy and corporate strategy, foster cross-business-unit awareness of key government and regulatory files, and ensure the GRA team delivers outstanding outcomes for TELUS and economic and social prosperity to all Canadians.

Here's How

 

  • Hold primary accountability for delivering high-quality communications to the TELUS executive leadership team (ELT) and board of directors
  • Lead the translation of complex legal, policy, and regulatory arguments into clear, concise, and creative executive briefing materials and presentations with minimal supervision
  • Consolidate GRA internal reporting and ensure alignment between GRA advocacy and CTE strategy
  • Develop a mastery of key GRA files, and draft briefing materials for senior leaders (VPs, directors)
  • Lead the creation of collateral that is tailored for key external audiences (e.g., government, media, third parties), based on robust data and evidence, and supportive of TELUS policy positions

Qualifications


What you bring

 

  • You have at least 7-10 years of experience in executive communications, strategic communications, corporate storytelling, business strategy, government relations or regulatory affairs
  • Your writing skills are outstanding, as demonstrated by a proven track record communicating complex ideas clearly, concisely, and creatively to executive-level audiences
  • You enjoy helping people showcase their achievements to their boss and their boss’s boss through clear, thoughtful, and stunning presentation decks
  • You are exceptional at translating scattered legal, policy, and research materials into accurate, digestible, and snazzy briefing notes for executives and VPs
  • You are sought out for your proven ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and synthesize them into clear and meaningful communication
  • You are super super good at workplace collaboration. You have a demonstrated ability to rally people from different teams to get complex problems solved and deadlines met.
  • You remain positive and serene even when chasing updates from your colleagues or making urgent changes to an executive briefing
  • You are familiar with using multiple channels and media to disseminate information within and across business units
  • Your organizational and project management skills are exceptional and your are always looking for ways to improve processes and drive efficiency
  • You are unflappable even when you’re really really busy. You can handle a lot of complex projects simultaneously.
  • You are interested and passionate about the role that technology can play in improving wellbeing

 

Great-to-haves

 

 

  • You have a graduate degree in business, economics, law, public policy, public affairs, communications, or a related discipline
  • You are comfortable working with data, insights and key performance indicators 
  • You are curious which means that you’re always seeking out new learning opportunities and experiences in the workplace
  • You have prior experience working in telecommunications and technology policy and regulation
  • You are bilingual in English and French
