Our team and what we'll accomplish together
If you're energized by building things that matter and are always looking for a better way to do them, this is the team for you. As a manager on the Network Engineering and Operations (NEO) Field Construction Management (FCM) team, you'll lead a skilled and engaged group of Field Construction Managers who bring TELUS' network build plans to life across British Columbia, with team members distributed across the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and the BC interior.
From fibre expansions and inside plant upgrades to real estate consolidation projects — including TELUS' Real Estate Consolidation (RECO) program, where we transform central offices and reimagine how infrastructure serves our communities — you aren't just managing projects; you are driving the innovation of world-class telecommunications infrastructure by empowering the team that builds it. Your ability to connect people, navigate competing priorities and communicate clearly will shape outcomes that reach far beyond your team and into the communities we serve.
What you'll do
- Lead and support a team of Field Construction Managers responsible for vendor engagement, bid management and quality assurance for inside and outside plant network builds across BC, guiding them through complex, high-priority programs
- Manage the service and infrastructure technology provisioning of TELUS' telecommunications network to ensure it meets market demands and technological evolution, including the First Office Application (FOA) process for new elements entering the core network
- Collaborate with a broad network of internal and external stakeholders including planning, design, project management, municipalities, equipment vendors and internal build groups to ensure build programs are sequenced, resourced and delivered on time
- Communicate project status, risks and priorities clearly to senior leadership, translating field-level complexity into compelling narratives that support informed decisions
- Oversee contractor performance by reviewing KPIs and scorecards, and working with your team to foster a culture of autonomy, accountability and continuous growth
- Support the identification of process improvement and automation opportunities to increase team efficiency and reduce manual effort
- Bring an open, curious mindset to understanding how work gets done across regions, and contribute to aligning practices that reflect what is best for TELUS and the communities we serve
What you bring
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to guide, develop and motivate team members through complex and shifting priorities while managing competing deadlines across multiple programs and geographies
- Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, surface risks early and present with clarity to senior leadership
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with external partners, contractors, municipalities and cross-functional teams
- Solid business acumen, including familiarity with project governance and financial oversight in an environment where budgets are largely inherited and time is the critical resource
- Knowledge of wireline and wireless network architecture, including inside and outside plant, sufficient to support and guide your team effectively
- Experience in a technical or operational environment, with a track record of taking initiative and following through on commitments
Great-to-haves
- Familiarity with automation tools, AI-assisted workflows or process improvement methodologies that support operational efficiency
- Experience with telecommunications infrastructure builds, real estate consolidation or large-scale capital project environments
- Knowledge of contractor performance management, including KPI frameworks and vendor scorecard processes
