Our team is responsible for the capacity planning of TELUS’ wireless network, this includes a broad range of data analytics and engineering activities, from projects that guide multi-year executive strategies to day-to-day network capacity planning to support the growing network traffic. You will have the opportunity not only to master new technologies, but also apply modern engineering best practices, including automation and ML/AI, to build and evolve the Best Wireless Network.
As a 5G Capacity and Data Analytics Specialist, you’ll provide technical leadership to ensure we efficiently plan and deploy network capacity based on customer specific requirements. The role is an intersection between Network Performance, Business Requirements and Customer Experience.
Your creativity coupled with strong data analytics skills and RF Engineering will allow us to find the best ways of building our wireless 4G/5G networks to support existing and new services. Finally, together as a team, we will help shape the future vision of TELUS’ wireless network by providing important guidance to executives on how best to address our evolving business challenges.
What you’ll do
- By using modern data analytics and automation techniques, transform our capacity planning processes to enter the 5G service based era
- By proactively defining novel capacity planning techniques/models for 5G/LTE use cases
- By producing and managing the RAN network capacity plans for mobility and fixed wireless users
- By collaborating with other technical and business teams to understand new technologies and services to make our team to succeed in an evolving business environment
- By developing dashboards and data visualizations, you will provide insights into network capacity that can be shared with executives and peer groups
- By monitoring network performance, you will identify actual capacity problems and predict future congestion issues in the network
- By leading the implementation of wireless capacity augments, you will build working processes with performance and construction teams to drive improvements in customer experience
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or engineering
- 7+ years of experience in mobile capacity planning and radio network design or optimization, and expertise in 5G and LTE technologies
- Three to five years of experience in data analysis or software development
- Proven ability to operate independently from general guidelines
- Ability to refine (locally) or expand (nationally) analyzes based on a specific problem Ability to problem solve and make intuitive decisions using large data sets
- Passion for data science, forecasting and using data visualization platforms like Splunk
- Experience with SQL databases, understanding of NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, Splunk)
- Python experience and basic knowledge of common data analysis libraries
Great to haves
- Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering
- Experience with agile methodology and cloud services, preferably Google Cloud Platform
- Experience in deploying Node.js application, microservices or distributed systems
