At TELUS, the Customer Solutions, Wireless Core Platforms Team is responsible for supporting key technologies and services such as IoT, Private Wireless Networks and Public Safety technologies. Our unique team encompasses the end-to-end technology lifecycle, from sales & business support through to development, deployment and operations.
As a Design Specialist II within our team, you will help architect advanced technology platforms while ensuring system stability and reliability for our customers. Working closely with our product owner, you'll align network design and implementation strategies with product goals and sprint objectives. Your expertise and contributions will directly impact the evolution of our wireless infrastructure and shape exceptional customer experiences. You will help drive exceptional customer experiences through a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and strong operational management skills. What you’ll do
- Design and implement advanced telecommunication network architectures, focusing on private wireless networks, IoT, and 5G technologies
- Provide after-hours Tier 3 support for planned maintenance activities, emergency changes, and critical incident response.
- Lead cross-functional collaborations during change implementation
- Develop and manage relationships with various platform vendors
- Identify and champion opportunities to enhance our systems and processes
- Translate complex business requirements into innovative technical solutions
- Prioritize and manage multiple complex projects in a dynamic environment
- Create and maintain comprehensive change documentation and procedures
- Develop and maintain emergency response procedures
What you bring
- 5+ years of experience in LTE/5G network design and implementation
- Comprehensive understanding of private wireless networks, IoT, 5G, and NFVI technologies
- Experience with after-hours support and emergency response procedures
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proven ability to bridge technical expertise with business strategy
- Experience in vendor relationship management
- Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Jenkins, GitLab, Git, Chef, Puppet)
- Proficiency with public cloud platforms (GCP, AWS)
- Experience in driving innovation within technical environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on creative solutions
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours when required
- Experience with scripting and/or software development
- Experience with Linux, server management, virtualization and containerization (Kubernetes, OpenShift)
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications or related field
Great-to-haves
- Familiarity with Private Wireless Network architecture and industrial IoT use cases, including network slicing applications
- Experience with emerging technologies, including Generative AI and its applications in telecommunications
- Familiarity with public safety technologies and industry trends
- Ability to work effectively within Agile dev/ops environments
- Working knowledge of analytics platforms (Splunk, Netscout, BigQuery, Looker)
