We are looking for a DevOps engineer for our cyber security data lake team.
The Argus Security Data lake provides big data analytics and Machine Learning capabilities for our security analysts. Our data lake is used not only to help our response teams investigate incidents but for building machine learning models that help detect suspicious behaviour in our networks and our clients networks. Our team collaborates with universities and other organizations in research projects to expand our knowledge and capabilities.

As a Devops engineer we need someone who is both a programmer and a systems admin. Our team maintains a data lake of system logs that our cybersecurity team uses for investigations. Our devops engineers are required to maintain the systems in the cluster as well as deploying changes and upgrades. You will be required to work on call on a rotational basis. You need to have a troubleshooting mindset that can diagnose problems as they are happening. Help us protect the assets of our clients by keeping our platform performing at its best. This role is a work from home position, you will need to have decent home internet access. We accept candidates from across Canada as long as they can come into a Telus regional office if needed on occasion.

- Ability to work from home with a reliable home internet connection
- Maintain the data analytics platform by facilitating upgrades and troubleshooting
- Monitor and troubleshoot system and data issues when they happen
- Work in an on call rotation to provide support outside of business hours
- Work closely with our data engineers on deploying upgrades to the platform
- Be part of an agile team and contribute to discussions on a daily basis
You're the missing piece of the puzzle
- Post secondary education in information technology
- Working knowledge of Unix/Linux command line, Computer Networks, systems development
- Experience with python, bash scripting, Cron jobs, Gitlab and/or Github
- Experience working in Agile development teams, familiarity with SDLC
- Ability to work outside of normal working hours on call
- Nice to have: GCP certification or experience
- Nice to have: experience working with Hadoop and Kafka
