As Lease Controller within Finance, you'll oversee comprehensive lease accounting and administration for Terrion's 3,000-site real estate portfolio across Canada.

  • Build scalable lease infrastructure that supports Terrion's transformation into Canada's premier independent tower company, establishing robust processes that ensure seamless operational continuity
  • Drive financial excellence by delivering accurate reporting and compliance that serves both TELUS leadership and Canadian investment partners, enabling informed strategic decisions about critical telecommunications infrastructure
  • Enable portfolio optimization through enhanced operational efficiency and data integrity that positions Terrion for sustainable growth in Canada's evolving connectivity landscape

What you'll do

Lease Operations & Compliance

  • Manage comprehensive lease accounting, payment processing, and compliance 
  • Maintain accurate lease databases with all terms, escalations, and critical dates
  • Ensure IFRS 16 compliance and internal controls across all agreements

Strategic Support & Analysis

  • Prepare detailed lease reports and portfolio performance analysis for senior leadership
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for infrastructure lease expenses
  • Coordinate lease renewals and amendments with Real Estate and Legal teams

Transformation & Optimization

  • Lead lease-related projects including system implementations and process improvements
  • Manage lease documentation and filing systems for audits and due diligence
  • Collaborate with vendors and landlords on administration matters and payment issues

What you bring

  • CPA designation with 7+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, preferably in telecommunications, infrastructure, or real estate sectors
  • Startup mindset with proven ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and pivot quickly between different functions and challenges in a fast-paced, evolving organization 
  • Strong accounting and finance background with knowledge of lease accounting standards (IFRS 16) and financial reporting requirements
  • Proven experience with lease management systems and advanced proficiency in Excel, Google Suite, and database management
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in managing complex lease data and financial information
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify discrepancies and resolve lease administration issues
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with internal teams, landlords, and vendors on lease matters
  • Experience with process improvement and system implementations, particularly during organizational changes
  • Understanding of real estate terminology and telecommunications infrastructure lease structures

 

Great-to-haves

 

  • Telecommunications infrastructure lease experience with tower agreements, easements, or network facility leases
  • Experience with organizational transformation including system migrations and process standardization
  • Advanced Excel/database skills and experience with lease management software platforms

 

Location: Any major Canadian city

 

Basic knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its national scope.

 

Salary Range:  $99,000-$149,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  20%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
