As Technical Manager of our Automation by Design team, you'll build the future of network reliability through cutting-edge Service Reliability Engineering practices and AI-enabled automation. What you'll do
- Guide the establishment and operationalization of SRE practices and discipline within TELUS, defining team mandate, processes, and standards that align with industry best practices
- Facilitate cross-functional conversations with technical and business stakeholders to identify automation opportunities, align on priorities, and drive transformational change that reduces manual work and improves efficiency
- Develop and deploy automation solutions and infrastructure-as-code capabilities that enhance reliability and enable teams to shift from reactive to proactive operations
- Coach and develop your team of Engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration while building psychological safety to question conventional thinking
What you bring
- 3+ years of technical leadership experience managing engineering teams in reliability, operations, infrastructure, or similar roles
- Deep expertise in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices and methodologies, with proven experience implementing or scaling SRE transformations
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence and collaborate across technical and business teams
- Strong background in automation and infrastructure-as-code, with hands-on experience designing and deploying automation solutions at scale
- Demonstrated experience with incident management, root cause analysis, and driving operational excellence initiatives
- Understanding of AI/ML applications in operations and experience evaluating or implementing intelligent automation and predictive systems
- Experience in telecommunications, network operations, or large-scale distributed systems
- Proficiency with monitoring, observability, and alerting platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, PagerDuty, Grafana, or similar tools)

- Track record of building high-performing, innovative teams in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
- Familiarity with Agentic AI frameworks and their applications in operations and automation
- Experience leading digital transformation or operational modernization initiatives in large organizations
Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its national scope. #LI-Remote
