We are searching for a talented candidate to become our team’s Manager, Metadata and Data Quality. Reporting to the Director – Enterprise Data Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of accomplished product owners, engineers and architects focused on metadata management and data quality initiatives. As a key leader in our cloud-first organization, you will drive TELUS's metadata management strategy while fostering a high-performing team culture. This role combines people leadership excellence with deep technical expertise in metadata management and data quality. 

What you'll do

 

Leadership Responsibilities:

 

• Lead and develop diverse technical teams while fostering stakeholder relationships across all levels, with focus on strategic planning and team performance metrics


• Drive cultural transformation towards CI/CD and DevOps excellence while balancing urgent business needs with long-term strategic initiatives


• Demonstrate thought leadership in privacy, ethics, and data technology while effectively translating technical considerations into business value


• Excel in recruiting and mentoring high-performing teams, with proven track record in strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and executive communication

 


Technical Responsibilities:

 

• Lead Collibra adoption and integration strategies across TELUS systems, while defining API approaches and metadata management solutions


• Oversee cloud-based API enablement, test strategies, and site reliability measures, including critical operational issue resolution


• Drive enterprise metadata and data quality management initiatives, leveraging deep expertise in data lineage and Collibra administration

What you bring

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent

 

  • 5+ years of team leadership experience (managing >8 direct reports)

 

  • 5+ years Data Engineering or Software Engineering experience

 

  • Fluency in English (written and verbal)

 

  • Demonstrate technical excellent in RESTful architecture, GCP Kubernetes, CI/CD, Java/Spring Boot, and diverse database platforms (Oracle, BigQuery, PostgreSQL, NoSQL)

 


Great-to-Haves:

 

  • Data Management (DAMA) Body of Knowledge experience

 

  • TM Forum Frameworks and open API experience

 

  • Master's degree

 

  • PMP Certification 
Salary Range:  $110,000-$166,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  20%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits such as:
