As a member of the Fraud Analytics team within the TELUS Chief Security Office, you will join a dynamic team of analysts and consultants that focus on fraud detection and prevention, to protect the business and customers.

 

As a Security Consultant I in the Fraud Analytics team, you will query data and perform analytics to identify new and existing fraud patterns. Based on the analysis, provide recommendations on fraud risk mitigation, collaborate across the organization, and drive strategies to enable fraud prevention controls. You will also be tasked to deploy technologies that mitigate and prevent fraud, by working with data modelling teams and vendors. Our team’s success is in our ability to deploy effective fraud mitigation to protect the business, and maintain customer excellence through customer inquiry resolution.


What you’ll do

 

  • Conduct data analysis using Oracle and GCP data sources, quantify and forecast risk impacts
  • Collaborate with various activation channels to advocate on behalf of the fraud team, the known trends and risk impacts, make process improvements to mitigate fraud
  • Work with Data Strategy and Enablement on AI modelling, to ingest data, build and validate models, fine tune risk prediction accuracy
  • Research, develop and work with vendors to build solutions to enhance fraud detection and prevention
  • Represent the Fraud team in stakeholder communications on fraud issues and impact assessment
  • Provide consultation to business units on new services and products from the planning stage. Follow the Fraud Prevention by Design principle
  • Deploy and evolve the Fraud Analytics tools and processes as fraud characteristics change dynamically
  • Deploy automation of processes and reports to drive efficiency

 

 

Qualifications

 

What you bring

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in a security (preferable) or business data analytics position
  • Proficient in data query language such as SQL and GCP Big Query is a must have
  • Known for your strong problem-solving, strategic approach, and analytical capabilities, you translate data into meaningful visual insights
  • Ability to build visuals that summarize complex data findings, with recommendations, to senior leadership audience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Accustomed to managing a diverse and dynamic workload
  • Ability to be in an on-call rotation (on pager, every few months) to support operational issues if they arise

 

Great-to-haves

 

  • Bilingual in French and English 
  • Ability to create GCP databases and pipelines is an asset
  • Experience in/ability to learn other programing languages: JSON, Python, Java
  • Knowledge with data analytics visualization tools such as: Google Data Studio, Tableau, DOMO
  • Understanding of Al and ML concepts of automation, decision, recommendation, and evaluation of such models

 

 

Salary Range:  $66,000-$100,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  10%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. Please note that the compensation shown in the job posting may be subject to change in 2025.
