The Wireless Data Service DevOps under TELUS Chief Technology Office encourages its team members to challenge the status quo and to innovate with new services and service differentiators. The team develops, deploys, operates and optimizes wireless consumer and enterprise services, IoT, fixed wireless and public safety services, while keeping both innovation and reliability as priorities.

 

You will be a member of the winning team to transform virtualized network functions, softwarize network services, improve service reliability from network access to core, from virtualized infrastructure to run-time environment. You will work closely with cross functional teams across the organization to realize our collective Customer First vision, develop and operate wireless services including but not limited to system integration, software development where applicable, data analytics and automation. You will help drive the evolution of our teams towards a DevOps and Agile culture and mode of working, drive and lead the adoption of an automation-first approach to our critical functions.

  • Build, maintain and leverage strong relationships with your stakeholders and maintain a collaborative model in order to ensure that you are collectively meeting the requirements of the business
  • Ensure that there is clarity of process and procedure including customer/user journey mapping
  • Integrate end to end service in multi-vendor environments 
  • Evolve wireless consumer mobility service with 5G
  • Adopt principals of Reliability by Design, Security by Design and Privacy by Design
  • Drive best-in-class customer experience and service quality

 

What you bring

 

  • Confident in your knowledge of CI/CD DevOps best practices and the tools used to implement them
  • Visible champion and spokesperson for change
  • Proven ability to take complete ownership of a product, by asking the right questions and knowing the results from launch to continuous support, demonstrating adaptable thinking
  • Strong project and process management skills, and the ability to lead cross functional teams
  • Excellent strategic analysis and thinking, with the ability to interpret data and generate innovative and unconventional solutions
  • Excellent relationship building and negotiation skills required to obtain commitment from cross-functional teams to support and deliver on priorities
  • Superior organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to meet deliverables and work with minimal supervision
  • Practical knowledge of IP networking, end to end wireless network architecture, user plane to support LTE and 5G 
  • Strong written and verbal presentation and communication skills to leaders at all levels within the organization

 

Great-to-haves

 

  • IP Networking certification, e.g. CCIE
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum/Kanban
  • Software development experience
  • Passion for mapping nuanced financial expenditure details to our strategic priorities
  • Technical familiarity in the domain of Telephony and telco network architecture
  • Experience with CI/CD technology tools (Ansible, Jenkins, Splunk, Chef, Puppet, GitLab, Git, etc.)
  • Scripting and/or Software Development Experience (Bash, Python, JavaScript)
  • Passionate about working with a mix of older and newer technologies to help evolve them
  • Experience with Linux, server management, virtualization and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Proven ability to take complete ownership of a product, by asking the right questions and knowing the results from launch to continuous support, demonstrating adaptable thinking
  • Excellent relationship building and negotiation skills required to obtain commitment from cross-functional teams to support and deliver on priorities
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or other relevant certification
