The impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together
 
As the Sr. Technology Consultant for DNS environments, you will provide high level and detailed consulting services for IP network and systems architecture, design, development and operational support for DNS elements and systems, Unix-based systems and relational databases. In addition, you will work closely with various departments to provide integrity, and assurance of the DNS infrastructure in a 24x7 rotating on-call environment.  You will possess a strong customer focus with the ability to diagnose complex network problems and interface with other team members outside of your area for problem resolution.

  • Delivering solutions for TELUS DNS environments:
  • Extensive experience with architecture, design, deployment and support of DNS infrastructure and supporting technologies
  • Exceptional understanding of the requirements needed to design, manage and maintain complex networked data systems and their peripherals with a senior to expert level of technical skills within many of the core relevant technical proficiencies
  • Experience in designing, deploying and migrating key network related systems and devices
  • Demonstrated ability to overcome the challenges both technical and non-technical to achieve a successful close of their projects
  • Must be experienced and proficient in a broad range of networking technologies skills in project planning and execution strategic analysis, thinking and leadership
  • Delivering operational DNS support for TELUS services and customers:
  • Ensure security, integrity, and availability of DNS systems
  • Perform software deployment, policy configuration, user administration, optimization, and security on national DNS Infrastructure
  • Provide monitoring, analysis and response for DNS related incidents across the core network
  • Ability to recognize and mitigate DOS threats 
  • Differentiate false positives from real threats and rapidly respond to incidents through analysis of relevant event information
  • Escalate incidents to senior levels of support and management, to internal customers, and to vendors as appropriate
  • Assess new technology impacts on current production network and assurance of future capacity management to enable expected growth
  • Work closely with other operational teams including network operations, Network Integrity
  • Responsible for ACR (Abnormal Condition Report) follow-up and service improvement plans post-ACR
  • Providing thought leadership, evaluating emerging technologies, and implementing process improvement and new best practices to optimize DNS infrastructure and automate/simplify tasks/routines

  • Able and willing to be the SPOC as part of an on call, 24x7 pager rotation team to provide after-hours Tier III escalation support
  • With a bachelor degree or diploma in a computer or technology discipline


Great-to-haves

  • Experience with virtualization technologies
  • Excellent knowledge of and experience in Linux 
  • Proficient in scripting or programming languages 
  • Experience with load balancing
