As a Senior System Administrator, you'll monitor and safeguard the digital infrastructure that powers healthcare innovation that is part of Telus Health. Working alongside cross-functional IT teams, security specialists, and healthcare technology partners, you'll ensure our mission-critical systems operate flawlessly 24/7, directly enabling healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care. Your expertise will drive system reliability, security, and performance that impacts millions of healthcare interactions. What you'll do
- Architect and maintain robust Windows Server environments (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, AD CS, and AD FS) that serve as the backbone for secure healthcare operations, partnering with security teams and compliance officers
- Orchestrate Azure Entra ID ecosystems by deploying App registrations, configuring Enterprise applications, and synchronizing identities through Azure Entra ID Connect, collaborating with cloud architects and application development teams
- Lead compliance initiatives by conducting resource and directory services audits alongside legal and compliance teams, ensuring healthcare data protection standards are exceeded
- Optimize server performance and security configurations that guarantee 99.9% uptime for critical healthcare applications, working closely with network engineers and database administrators
- Execute strategic upgrades and migrations during planned maintenance windows, coordinating with change management teams and healthcare operations to minimize service disruption
- Implement bulletproof backup and disaster recovery solutions that protect patient data and ensure business continuity, partnering with data protection specialists and emergency response teams
- Monitor and troubleshoot system health in real-time, rapidly resolving issues that could impact healthcare service delivery, collaborating with help desk teams and vendor support
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell and advanced scripting, increasing team efficiency by 40% while working with DevOps engineers and process improvement specialists
- Configure virtualization platforms (Hyper-V/VMware) that support scalable healthcare applications, partnering with infrastructure architects and capacity planning teams
- Mentor junior administrators and share knowledge across IT teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence within the broader technology organization
Qualifications
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
- 5+ years of experience as a Windows Server Administrator
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019 and 2022
- Experience with Active Directory, Certificate Services, Federation Services, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file services
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (Hyper-V, VMware)
- Understanding of networking concepts and protocols
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements
- Excellent communication, attention to detail, problem solving and initiative skills

- Ability to work independently and alongside a team; coaching and collaborating with others
- Flexibility to work outside of regular hours including on-call and/or change windows
Great-to-haves
- Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, MCSA)
- Experience with Microsoft System Center Endpoint Management (SCEM) platform including Configuration Manager and Endpoint Protection for managing and maintaining endpoint security, software deployment, and asset management
Intermediate knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its international scope.
