Your Role
Are you a driven, entrepreneurial sales professional who thrives on prospecting and winning new business and helping small business owners succeed with the right technology solutions? Join TELUS as an Account Specialist on our Small Medium Business team — where you'll think like a CEO, build your own book of business from the ground up, and make a real impact on businesses across Canada. You will be a trusted advisor and entrepreneur who owns your results, your strategy, and your growth. You'll focus on outbound prospecting to connect with small business owners, identify their needs, and deliver tailored technology solutions that help them thrive in today's digital world.
Here's how:
- Hunt and develop new business through strategic outbound prospecting and proactive outreach across your territory, with a pipeline of 500K qualified SMBs waiting to be engaged
- Build and cultivate your own book of business from the ground up — not just work assigned leads. Your business is yours to own and grow
- Manage a full sales cycle from qualifying prospects to closing deals and building a strong client base. Success requires the ability to thrive in variety — some deals close in weeks with deeper discovery, others in days with ready-to-buy prospects
- Deliver consultative solutions tailored to each business's unique needs across our full portfolio — Mobility, Fibre Internet, Business Security and Generative AI solutions with average deal values of $5K-$25K annually
- Cultivate long-term partnerships where clients see you as their trusted technology advisor, not a one-time transaction — building recurring revenue streams
- Drive outbound prospecting initiatives while cultivating relationships and referral networks to support sourcing efforts — top performers source 40%+ of their pipeline through relationships
- Achieve and exceed monthly sales targets while maintaining a focus on customer success — clear monthly quotas with transparent tracking
- Maintain accurate pipeline records and manage your business with an entrepreneurial mindset using industry-standard CRM tools (Salesforce)

Qualifications
What You'll Bring
- Proactive prospector mentality - you’re energized by outbound, make 50+ dials per day without hesitation and are motivated by acquiring new business.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a focused pursuit of success and accountability for your results
- You bring disciplined execution and quota accountability — hitting targets consistently, managing priorities strategically, and adjusting your approach based on pipeline data
- Adaptability, resilience and coachability, you’re open to feedback
- Eagerness for continuous learning and career growth — you invest in your own development and stay current with industry trends
Preferred (But We'll Train the Right Attitude)
- 1-3 years B2B or outbound sales experience — ideally in SaaS, technology, or telecommunications
Familiarity with CRM tools (Salesforce, GONG, HubSpot, or similar) — you're comfortable with technology and can navigate platforms intuitively - Experience in field sales, outside sales or territory management
- Multilingual proficiency — a distinct advantage for our diverse client base across Canada
- Established professional network within the business community — your referral network becomes your competitive advantage
