The Channel Operations team is currently looking for an experienced professional to join the team as Business Analyst II.  The successful candidate will have a portfolio of work to provide greater insight and visibility to channel performance, evaluate the viability and impact of all distribution channel compensation changes and opportunities.  This position will provide you with great exposure to several of our key sales channels, their performance, motivators, and future direction.  



The successful candidate must have strong reporting and analysis skills, math skills, and people skills.  This position needs a smart and passionate person who can understand business speak, drill down on what the requestor really needs versus what they are asking for, translate that into reporting requirements, figure out the best place and methodology to get that information, then compile it neatly, extract insights from the data, and present it back to the requestor.


As part of the team, you’ll be responsible for

 

  • Completing adhoc reporting and analysis to validate and investigate beliefs or hypothesis and quantify impacts of future changes
  • Generating regular reporting to look for trends or changes or abnormalities or effectiveness
  • Sharing what you know with others, learning from them, and validating each other’s work as part of a cohesive cooperative team
  • Helping to manage special compensation programs that drive behaviour and pay for value delivered
  • Translating business requests into data speak, analyzing the results to find the relevant nuggets, consolidating the findings into prioritized, pertinent, and succinct recommendations 
  • Generating and analyzing reports of existing channel partner transactions and compensation to determine effectiveness and making recommendations for changes
  • Along with the rest of this 3-pillared platform team, living and breathing the prime directive of "Pay Correctly and On Time"

Qualifications



What you bring
 

  • Knowledge and experience with advanced Excel (including pivot tables and sumifs)
  • Experience in best practices for reporting and analysis
  • Knowledge of TELUS channel systems/processes and sales channels are a definite asset

  • Detail Oriented - ability to dig into the details associated with hundreds of channel partners and ensure that thousands of values for them are accurate
  • Business Oriented – ability to understand upfront system and business processes/workarounds and their downstream impact on reports/numbers
  • Organization - ability to structure what appear to be random thoughts/situations/scenarios and organize them into buckets/processes/rules
  • Understand complexity - ability to quickly understand complex scenarios, situations, systems, and their interactions
  • Multi-tiered - ability to see the big picture and thereby understand the interaction between systems, but also dig into the details to see the consequences of change
  • Selling – ability to document benefits and sell your ideas to others
  • Writing - ability to write clear, concise, complete, and well structured documents
  • Project Management - although this is not a PM position, these skills apply to almost all positions and tasks and the candidate must have a good understanding and application of PM basics


Nice-to-haves
 

  • Post-secondary education in a quantitative discipline (Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Business)
  • 5+ years work experience in a business setting demonstrating capability and understanding of the following:
    • Reporting
    • Financial analysis
    • Business processes
