Join our team

We are looking for bright people who enjoy solving problems. At TELUS, People & Culture (P&C) is not your traditional HR team, and this is not your traditional P&C role. We embrace change and have fun re-inventing the future of work. We are as passionate about our team as we are about our business, and we’re looking for people who get excited about thinking and delivering differently.

Here’s what we believe

  • We are ONE team: there’s no room for egos or blame
  • Everything we do is tied to our customers and our business: not dictated by rules or policies
  • We challenge the status quo: and when others think we’re done, we make it better
  • We live up to our commitments: to ourselves, our business, peers, leaders, team and customers
  • Our success is all about how we do things: how we think, solve problems, deliver, communicate, and simply interact with one another

What we’ll accomplish together

As a Business Consultant in the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) area of P&C, you help craft the strategy to onboard our acquired leaders and team members into TELUS P&C practices. More importantly, you make the experience more seamless and effective with every integration.

You work closely with your colleagues in the P&C M&A team, P&C business partners, business leads, and multiple shared services stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that support alignment of pay & time administration, benefits, pension, health services, job and compensation alignment, talent acquisition, learning & development, health & safety, and day-to-day HR support. No two companies follow the exact same path to integration, but your efforts help evolve the consistent and scalable approach that has been built on years of experience and lessons learned.

Your stakeholders see you as equal parts subject matter expert, facilitator, thinking partner, driver, and storyteller. You are a curious, energetic and results driven teammate who can work in an environment of ambiguity. Your counsel is equal parts logic, analysis and strategy. You critically think about the connections between people, process and technology, skillfully ask questions, actively listen, and deeply believe that the only bad idea is one left unsaid. Your passion for delivering a remarkable team member experience drives better outcomes for our business and customers. You sweat the details that will influence our definition of success, and can differentiate between those scenarios where getting it 80 percent right will be enough.

Supported by the Manager P&C Integration, you will lead important post-acquisition work including current state assessments, guiding decision making, and recommending strategies to manage change. With a focus on the leader and team member journey, you will create presentations, facilitate conversations and develop support materials to help bring organizations together.

Here's how

  • Facilitate discovery sessions with cross-functional teams to understand the acquired company’s business practices and high-level impacts of the transition to TELUS
  • Support the P&C Centres of Excellence in the execution of specific deliverables in preparation for onboarding, while ensuring that unique M&A requirements and constraints are considered in the plan
  • Equip TELUS leaders and acquired leaders to understand what is changing and drive adoption of new ways of working within their teams by creating and facilitating sessions that will help prepare them
  • Surface decision points, options, and recommendations for the business where alignment of practices will have people, financial or operational impacts
  • Ensure readiness for onboarding, cut-over planning, and appropriate go-live support across your areas of responsibility
  • On occasion, support the pre-acquisition activities including detailed due diligence, risk assessment, cost estimates and proposal of mitigation strategies.

What you bring

  • Consultant mindset: Ability to resolve complex business issues and develop innovative solutions that drive outcomes
  • Passionate problem solver: The fundamentals of digging into a problem, conducting targeted analysis, building recommendations and executing on those recommendations.
  • Process oriented: You can work through an ambiguous process by breaking it down step-by-step. You help others to think through ‘so what’ and ‘then what’ considerations.
  • Compelling communicator: Clear, concise and influential in all aspects of communication and facilitation
  • Self-motivated learner: Seeks to understand and grow knowledge, skills and personal capabilities
  • Strong collaborator and relationship builder: Someone others actively seek out to partner with
  • Energized by fast-paced environments: Comfortable in continuously changing, dynamic environments
  • Experienced change management lead: Bring change management discipline to every project you touch, big or small
  • Pragmatic project manager: Demonstrated capability to lead large transformational projects in a structured way. You know when a project plan is needed, or when a simple list will get the job done.
  • Influencer: Ability to influence leaders and peers to gain support and overcome resistance with data and persuasion

Great-to-haves

  • Bachelor’s degree with an MBA or advanced degree preferred or equivalent experience and education
  • 7 to10 years of equivalent work experience tied to HR and/or M&A functions
  • Proven track record on leading & delivering complex projects
  • Bilingual in English and French, written and spoken, is an asset
  • Experience with post-acquisition integrations
