Job Summary: We are seeking a lawyer to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will be dynamic, curious, and articulate, with a strong ability to handle a variety of legal matters independently. This role requires a proactive individual who can work autonomously and collaboratively to support TELUS' business objectives.

As a business oriented commercial lawyer, you will support TELUS Business Solutions activities across Canada in a variety of business to business transactions and legal matters, including deal negotiations and agreement drafting related to complex deals with major players in both the public and private sectors as well as the small-medium business market. You will also provide advice on telecommunications, information technology (IT), competition, procurement, cloud computing, Internet of Things, requests for proposals, SaaS subscription agreements, software licenses and professional services agreements as well as data privacy, protection and security matters.

  • Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of matters, including commercial contracts and corporate governance
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various types of agreements and legal documents
  • Assist in managing legal risks and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and provide practical legal solutions
  • Strive to advance legal and business practices by driving new approaches and process improvements while balancing a high volume of client matters in a timely and effective manner
  • Review and recommend improvements to the legal support model for TELUS' engagements
  • Collaborate with our M&A team to seamlessly integrate newly acquired companies into the TELUS Business Solutions portfolio, ensuring alignment with our strategic objectives and operational processes

 

 

Qualifications

 

You’re the missing piece of the puzzle:

 

  • Respected for your legal skills, business acumen, initiative, creativity, learning-oriented mindset and collaborative style
  • Experience advising clients in structuring, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements and documents in support of sales activity 
  • Familiarity with IT solutions, including cloud computing, Internet of Things, information technology support services and related privacy issues
  • Some familiarity with emerging AI technologies such as Chat GPT and their application to providing legal services
  • Valued for strong analytical skills that help you resolve client and legal concerns practically and efficiently
  • Confident at engaging and interacting with sophisticated stakeholders, internally and externally
  • Noted for your ability to effectively communicate legal advice to a diverse range of stakeholdersYou thrive in a fast-paced, results oriented environmentRecognized for your record of successfully managing multiple, concurrent files and priorities and delivering on commitments
  • Bilingual (French and English) and capable of drafting, negotiating and practicing in either language is an asset
  • Called to the Bar for at least 3 years
  • Member in good standing with any Law Society in Canada

 

* Compensation will depend on years of pertinent experience of the selected candidate.

 

 

Salary Range:  $114,000-$172,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  15%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
